Men’s Golf Finishes Season at NCAA DII West/South Regional Championships
RIVERSIDE, Calif.--- Stan State finished its 2025 season at the 2025 NCAA Division II West/South Regional Championships this weekend at the par-72 Victoria Golf Club in Riverside, Calif. Jack Peters led the way for the Warriors with his three-under par 213 (73-70-70) to finish in a nine-way tie for 38th place. Finishing two strokes behind Peters was Nate Jetton with a one-under par 215 followed by Ricky Sullivan's 216, Chase Bird's 220, and Chris Chomyn's 221.
WARRIORS: As a team, Stan State finished with a one-under par 863 (291-285-287) in the 54-hole tournament. Jack Peters was the top Warrior finisher with his three-under par 213 (73-70-70). Peters finished in a nine-way tie for 38th place. Two strokes behind Peters were Nate Jetton with his one-under par 215 (73-71-71). Jetton finished in a nine-way tie for 52nd place. Chase Bird was next with his four-over par 220 (75-71-74) followed by Chris Chomyn's five-over par 221 (73-73-75). Ricky Sullivan shot a six-over par 222 (72-78-72) to round the field for the Warriors. Bird finished in a seven-way tie for 84th place, Comyn finished in a six-way tie for 91st place, and Sullivan finished in a three-way tie for 97th place.
PARS/BIRDIES: Stan State recorded 52 pars, 16 birdies, and two eagles on the final day of the 2025 NCAA Division II West/South Regional Championships. Leading the way was Jack Peters with his 16 combined pars and birdies including recording a birdie or par on three of the final five holes. Nate Jetton had 15 combined pars and birdies in his final round including recording a par or birdie on seven of the final nine holes. Chris Chomyn started his final round recording a par on eight of the first nine holes. Chomyn had 11 pars and two birdies. Chase Bird finished with 13 pars and birdies with three birdies coming on the final five holes. Ricky Sullivan had 13 combined pars, birdies, and eagles. Sullivan had eagles on two par 5 holes in the 14 and 18.
TOP TEAMS: Colorado Christian led the field with its -46 under par score of 818 followed by Oklahoma Christian's 32-under par 832. Rounding out the top six and qualifying for the Nationals are Cal State East Bay (-29, 835), St. Mary's, Tex. (-26, 838), Cal State San Bernardino (-25, 839) and West Texas A&M (-20, 844).
TOP INDIVIDUALS: Oklahoma Christian's Oskari Nikku captured medalist honors with a 17-under par 199. Three strokes behind Nikku were Colorado Christian's Sangha Park with a 15-under par 202 followed by his teammates Adam Duncan and Xavier Bighaus along with Cal State San Bernardino's Chris Wardrup each with a 13-under par 204. The top two individuals from non-qualifying teams and heading for Nationals are the duo of Colorado State Pueblo's Agustin Pizzorno (-9, 207) and Sonoma State's Cambron Nevill (-9, 207). The duo finished in a four-way tie for eighth place.
ALL BUT ONE: All but one of the 20 teams that qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II West/South Central Regionals recorded a below par score in the 54-hole regional. The number one ranked Colorado Christian Cougars had a 39-under par score of 825. The highest score in the field was Cal State San Marcos with a three-over par score of 867. Stan State finished in 19th with its one-under par 863.
NCAA NATIONALS: The 2025 NCAA Division II Championship is set for May 19-25 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The top six teams and the top two individuals from non-qualifying teams from the West/South Central Regional Championships will advance to the Nationals. The six teams were Colorado Christian, Oklahoma Christian, Cal State East Bay, St. Mary's (Tex.), Cal State San Bernardino, and West Texas A&M. The top two individuals from non-qualifying teams were the duo of Agustin Pizzorno (CSU Pueblo) and Cambron Nevill (Sonoma State).
