Stan State Men’s Golf Heads to National Preview in Nevada
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Stanislaus State men's golf team will compete Monday and Tuesday, October 6–7, at the National Preview at Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club.
Stan State opened the fall at the Chico State Wildcat Classic, finishing eighth in the field with a three-round total of 860 (–4). Riley Kirk led the squad with a 209 (–7) on rounds of 69-69-71, while Ricky Sullivan (215), Carson Diaz (216), Owen Bascom (222), and Chase Bird (222) rounded out the scoring.
Next, at the Western Washington Invitational, the Warriors posted a 54-hole total of 900 (+36) and placed 13th. Bascom paced the team with a tie for 17th at 218 (+2), followed by Sullivan and Bird (tied 54th at 227), Diaz (tied 68th at 230), and Kirk (tied 75th at 233).
The National Preview will host a strong field of Division II programs, including Cal State San Marcos, Georgia Southwestern State (ranked No. 3 nationally), Lynn University, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Valdosta State, Missouri S&T, Flagler College, UMSL (University of Missouri–St. Louis, ranked No. 23), Western New Mexico, Chico State (ranked No. 21), Drury University, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State East Bay, Midwestern State (ranked No. 25), and Fort Lewis College.
Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club, a 27-hole championship layout in Boulder City, will test distance, strategy, and shot management, with water hazards, desert-style conditions, and potential afternoon winds as key challenges. The event also serves as a preview of the course that will host the 2025–26 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, May 18–22, 2026.
Stan State's lineup for the National Preview will feature Riley Kirk, Ricky Sullivan, Carson Diaz, Owen Bascom, and Chase Bird. They will be paired with golfers from Valdosta State, Chico State, Fort Lewis College, and Colorado State Pueblo and start on holes 13-17.
