Men’s Golf to Begin Fall Season at Bill Cullum Invitational
TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State men's golf team will begin their fall season this Monday-Tuesday, October 7-8 competing in the Bill Cullum Invitational at the par-72 The Saticoy Club in Somis, Calif. This will be the first of our invitationals that the Warriors will play in this fall.
LAST SEASON: The Warriors finished in fifth place at the CCAA Men's Golf Championships in late April behind Chris Chomyn's five-under par 211 which placed him in a three-way tie for fourth place in the 54-hole tournament. For the second year in a row, Chomyn was named to the All-Tournament Team has he finished in the top five. This was Chomyn's second year in a row being named to the CCAA Championships All-Tournament Team. Stan State finished in 15th place at the NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional Championships in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Chomyn shot a two-under par 211 to finish in a three-way tie for tenth place. He was four strokes away from qualifying for Nationals.
Chomyn earned PING/NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American honors. Both Chomyn and Nate Jetton were named to the PING/NCAA Division II All-West Region First team. They were also named to the All-CCAA Team. This was the second year in a row that Jetton was named to the All-West Region Team and All-CCAA team. Jetton was a 2023 PING/NCAA Division II Second Team All-American honoree.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK HONORS: During the 2023-24 season, Chris Chomyn was named the CCAA Men's Golfer of the Week twice. The first time, he was the co-Men's Golfer of the Week with Cal State San Marcos' Greg Mouser for the week of February 7-13. Two months later, Chomyn earned the honor outright during the week of April 3-9. Nate Jetton earned the honor twice during the 2022-23 season. Jetton was the Golfer of the Week for the weeks of October 24-28 and March 22-28.
THIS YEAR'S WARRIORS: Stan State returns six golfers from last year's team in Chris Chomyn, Nate Jetton, Bradley Olson, Jack Peters, Drew Pritchard, Rey Rosas, and Armaan Sahota. Joining those six are newcomers in junior transfer Chase Bird, sophomore transfer Ricky Sullivan, and freshman Ethan Gonsalves.
HEADING TO SOMIS: Stan State will send five golfers to the Bill Cullum Invitational this Monday-Tuesday, October 7-8 in Chris Chomyn, Nate Jetton, Jack Peters, Ricky Sullivan, and Rey Rosas. Two Warriors will play as individuals in Chris Bird and Armaan Sahota.
The Bill Cullum Invitational is a 54-hole tournament that will be hosted by the par-72 The Saticoy Club in Somis, Calif. The first 36 holes will be played on Monday with the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning. Among the teams participating will be the hosts Cal State Northridge along with Stan State, Cal State San Marcos, Pepperdine, Southern Utah, Weber State, and UC Riverside.
LAST YEAR'S BILL CULLUM: The Warriors finished in 12th place with a three-round score of 909 (298-295-316) at the 2023 Bill Cullum Invitational. Nate Jetton led the way with his four-over par 220 which tied him for 13th place followed by Chris Chomyn's eight-over par 224. Cal State Fullerton captured the invitational with a six-under par 870. John Kim of Cal State San Bernardino was the individual medalist with his three-under par 213.
AFTER BILL CULLUM: After the Bill Cullum Invitational concludes on October 8, Stan State will return to the course in Seaside, Calif., at the Bayonet & Blackhorse Golf Course, October 14-15. The Warriors will conclude their fall season in Hawai'i, October 21-26 compositing in two invitationals. They will be at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate
SPRING SEASON: The complete Spring 2025 schedule will be announced in December. Stan State will host the 50th Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, April 14-15, at Turlock Golf & Country Club in Turlock, Calif. The 2024-25 CCAA Men's Golf Championships at the Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, Calif. This year's NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional will be hosted by The Victoria Club in Riverside, Calif., May 8-10. The PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., will host the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, May 19-25.

- Free Youth Clinic Set for Nov. 22 During CCAA Volleyball Tournament at Stanislaus StateAs part of the 2025 CCAA Volleyball Tournament festivities hosted at Stanislaus State, local youth will have the chance to take the court at Fitzpatrick Arena for a free volleyball clinic on Saturday, Nov. 22.
