For The Third Straight Week, Stan State Stays in the Top 30 in the Nation

NEW ORLEANS---  In this week's 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, which was released this morning by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Stan State is twenty-fifth.  This is the third week in a row that the Warriors have been ranked in the top thirty.  Adams State (Colo.) holds the top spot. 

Stan State is one of five teams from the West Region that are ranked in the top 30.  Western Washington from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) is eleventh followed by Chico State out of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) who is twelfth.  The PacWest Conference's Biola is sixteenth while Alaska out of the GNAC is nineteenth.  The CCAA's Cal Poly Pomona is receiving votes.

The Warriors have not raced since they hosted the Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational, September 14 at the River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, Calif.  Stan State finished second at the Kim Duyst Twilight with Annie Wild leading the way with her third-place time of 21:11.6 in the 6K race.  Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva ran a 21:18 to finish in fifth place followed by Crystal Hernandez who finished in tenth with her time of 22:02.

The week before on September 7 at the Seawolf Invite/CCAA Championship Preview, the Warriors finished in second place at the 5K course in Fresno, Calif., at Woodward Park.  Wild paced the Warriors with her fifth-place time of 18:45.5.  Sanchez-Silva was the next Stan State runner to cross the finish line with her seventh-place time of 18:53.3.  Rounding out the top three Warriors' finishers was Tessa Vasquez with her eighth-place time of 19:00.4

The Warriors will return to the course on Friday, October 11 when the men's and women's cross country teams travel to San Francisco to participate in the SF State Invitational at Golden Gate Park's Speedway Meadows.  The women's race is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. followed by the men's race at 4:15 p.m. This will be their final race of the regular season. 

Stan State will run in the 2024 CCAA Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif., on Friday, October 25.  Two weeks later, the Warriors will travel to Billings, Mont., to participate in the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships at Amend Park.  The men's 10K race will begin at 10:00 a.m. (MT) followed by the women's 6K race at 11:15 a.m. (MT).

The Warriors will look to return to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships which are set for Saturday, November 23 at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, Calif.  The men's 10K race is schedule to start at 10:00 a.m. followed by the women's 6K race at 11:15 a.m.
