Warriors Crack Top 10 in Latest United Soccer Coaches West Region Rankings
KANSAS CITY, Mo.--- The Stanislaus State women's soccer team has earned a spot among the region's elite, checking in at No. 10 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 – NCAA DII Women — West Region, released October 7.
The Warriors (5-2-2, 1-1-0 CCAA) make their first regional appearance of the 2025 season following a strong start to conference play and a balanced record against top competition. Cal Poly Pomona (9-0-0, 2-0 CCAA) headlines the West Region poll at No. 1, followed by Western Oregon and Western Washington in the top three.
Rounding out the regional top 10 are Concordia Irvine (4), Azusa Pacific (5), Seattle Pacific (6), Simon Fraser (7), Point Loma Nazarene (8), and Cal State San Marcos (9).
Update on the Warriors
The Warriors (5-2-2, 1-1-0 CCAA) are unbeaten in their last three road contests and continue to rely on a sturdy defense anchored by goalkeeper Zara Mujica, who owns a 0.78 goals-against average and five shutouts through nine matches. Offensively, Haylee Sousa and Olivia Maragos share the team lead with two goals apiece, while Kellyann Rodriguez and Aliah Avila have combined for five assists as the team averages just over one goal per game. Stan State has out-shot opponents 118–86 this season and has posted five clean sheets, including three 1-0 victories. The Warriors rank among the CCAA's toughest defensive sides, conceding only seven goals in nine matches.
Recap of Last Weekend
The Warriors opened conference play with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Cal State East Bay on Friday before rebounding with a 1-0 win over Cal State LA on Sunday. Against East Bay, Shauna Johnston scored in the 70th minute on assists from Abby Winslow and Olivia Maragos, but the Pioneers had built a two-goal lead earlier in the second half. Two days later, the Warriors bounced back as Olivia Maragos netted the lone goal in the 28th minute off a pass from Haylee Sousa. Goalkeeper Zara Mujica made seven saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season.

Stanislaus State begins a three-match road trip next weekend, starting at Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. The Warriors then face top-ranked Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m., before wrapping up the trip at Cal Poly Humboldt on Friday, Oct. 17 at 12:30 p.m. Stan State returns home on Sunday, Oct. 19 to host Cal State San Marcos at 11:30 a.m.
