No. 2 Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten at 11-0-1
Stanislaus State men's soccer continued its remarkable season, improving to 11-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in CCAA play after a pair of weekend wins over Cal Poly Humboldt and Cal State San Marcos. The Warriors, who sit in a tie for first place with Cal State Dominguez Hills in the CCAA standings, have outscored opponents 27–7 through 12 matches while posting seven shutouts. Angel Ruiz-Hernandez anchors the defense with a 0.59 goals-against average, .857 save percentage, and an 11-0-1 record in goal. Offensively, Gerardo Flores leads the Warriors with seven goals and three assists, followed by Emmanuel Duran with six goals and Sebastian Carbajal with five. Samuel Villanueva (eight assists) and Adrian Yepez (six assists) continue to drive the attack for a team that averages 2.25 goals per match and holds a +20 goal differential. Stan State will host Chico State on Break the Record Night this Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. before traveling to Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. The top six teams will advance to the CCAA Soccer Championships Tournament, set for Nov. 9 and 14–16 in Seaside.
Women's Soccer Battles for Postseason Position
Stanislaus State earned a weekend split, bouncing back from a 1-0 loss at Cal Poly Humboldt on Friday to defeat Cal State San Marcos 2-1 at home on Sunday. In Arcata, the Warriors outshot the Lumberjacks 9–8 but couldn't find the net despite four saves from goalkeeper Zara Mujica. Back in Turlock, Stan State responded behind goals from Aliah Avila and Shauna Johnston — each scoring their first of the season — with assists from Reyna Dismukes and Olivia Kamm. Mujica made three saves in the win as the Warriors improved to 6-3-4 overall and 2-2-2 in the CCAA while extending their strong home record to 5-2-1. The Warriors are currently tied for the sixth and final qualifying spot for the CCAA Soccer Championship, which takes place Nov. 9 and 14–16. Stan State will host Chico State on Break the Record Night this Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at Warrior Stadium before traveling to face Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m.
Women's Cross Country Aims to Reclaim CCAA Crown
The 13th-ranked Warriors will compete in the 6K race at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Chico's Bidwell Park in the CCAA Championships. Stan State is looking to reclaim the conference crown after winning back-to-back CCAA titles in 2021 and 2022, with Chico State taking top honors in 2023 and 2024. The Warriors opened the season with a statement win at the Kim Duyst Twilight in Ceres, edging Division I Sacramento State by one point (75–76) to claim the team title. Annie Wild led the way with a third-place finish in 21:02.7, earning FloCollege/CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors. Two weeks later, the Warriors proved their national strength again with a second-place team finish at the UC Riverside Invitational — the top Division II program in a deep Division I field — led by Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva (3rd) and Wild (5th). Most recently, Stan State showcased its depth at the SF State Invitational, finishing strong despite resting its top six runners, with Crystal Hernandez (5th, 22:01.2) leading a balanced effort from the entire lineup.
Men's Cross Country Looks to Continue CCAA Podium Streak
The Warriors will compete in the 8K race at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Bidwell Park as they aim for another top-three finish at the CCAA Championships. Stan State has been one of the league's most consistent programs, placing third in both 2023 and 2024 after finishing fourth in 2021 and 2022. The team is coming off an impressive performance at the SF State Invitational, where sophomore Jackson Oliveira captured the individual title in 24:17.6 and twin brother Mason placed third (24:36.0). The duo's efforts highlighted another strong team showing that saw the Warriors top four other CCAA programs. Earlier this season, the Oliveira twins also led Stan State against Division I competition, helping the Warriors finish as the second-highest Division II team at the Kim Duyst Twilight and turn in another competitive result at the UC Riverside Invitational.
Volleyball Splits Home-and-Away Weekend
Stanislaus State (8-9, 6-4 CCAA) enters the week in fifth place in the CCAA standings after splitting its home-and-away weekend — winning in four sets over UC Merced on Thursday before falling in four at Chico State on Saturday. Setter Shaelynn Pruiett recorded double-doubles in both matches, giving her five on the season and 11 in her career. The Warriors are hitting .203 overall while averaging 2.46 blocks and 1.69 aces per set. Isabella Saucedo leads the team with 156 kills, followed by Christallynn Tate (141) and Fallon Freeman (115), while Pruiett and Reagan Wilkerson have combined for 484 assists and 33 aces. Stan State will host the 2025 CCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament, Nov. 20–22, at Fitzpatrick Arena.
Men's Golf Wraps Up Fall Season at Otter Invitational
The Stanislaus State men's golf team closed out its fall schedule with an 11th-place finish at the Otter Invitational, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at the challenging Bayonet Golf Course. The Warriors improved their score in each round, posting 311-301-299 for a 911 total in difficult, rainy, and windy conditions. Sophomore Owen Bascom led the way with a 222 (+6), finishing tied for 16th in the 96-player field after a strong even-par 72 in the final round. Ricky Sullivan and Chase Bird each tied for 52nd at 230 (+14), while Riley Kirk (234) and Carson Diaz (235) rounded out the scoring. The event featured one of the toughest fields of the fall, with multiple nationally ranked and receiving-votes programs competing. The Warriors will announce their spring schedule in December, which will include hosting the 51st annual Jim Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at Turlock Golf and Country Club.
Women's Tennis Heads to Dominican for Second Fall Event
The Stanislaus State women's tennis team returns to action this Friday and Saturday, competing in the Dominican University of California Hidden Duals in San Rafael. The Warriors are coming off their fall opener at the ITA West Regional in La Mirada, where Abbigail Mulick and Parker Orlando earned a doubles win in the Round of 32, and Katrine Damkjær advanced to the Round of 16 in the consolation singles bracket. Stan State will conclude its fall season at the Menlo College Hidden Duals on November 7–8 before announcing its full spring schedule in December.
Basketball Season Just Around the Corner
Warrior basketball returns soon, with the men's squad opening against Jessup University on Nov. 14 before hosting Saint Martin's on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. and Cal Maritime on Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. The women's team begins its season with a pair of exhibition games — at Santa Clara on Nov. 3 and at Utah State on Nov. 20 — before opening CCAA play at Cal Poly Humboldt on Dec. 4. Stan State's home opener is set for Friday, Dec. 19, at 5:30 p.m. against Cal State San Bernardino in Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena. Fans should mark their calendars — the hoops season is right around the corner.

Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week:
This week's Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week are men's soccer player Sebastian Carbajal and women's soccer player Aliah Avila.
#11 Sebastian Carbajal has emerged as a key difference-maker for the No. 2-ranked Warriors, scoring his fourth and fifth goals of the season in back-to-back victories over Cal Poly Humboldt and Cal State San Marcos. The sophomore forward struck in the 40th minute at Humboldt off assists from Alexis Cervantes and Hugo Canedo, then buried the game-winner — his second of the year — in the 47th minute against San Marcos on a setup from Adrian Yepez. In just 62 minutes across the two matches, Carbajal recorded five shots (three on goal) and converted both of his scoring chances for a .400 shooting percentage.
#10 Aliah Avila played all 180 minutes over the weekend and delivered once again for the Warriors, scoring the game-winner — her first of the season and eighth of her career — in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Cal State San Marcos. After a strong showing at Cal Poly Humboldt, where she anchored the attack and kept pressure on the Lumberjack defense for the full 90 minutes, Avila broke through against the Cougars with her first goal of the year in the 49th minute. The junior forward now has one goal and three assists this season.
