TURLOCK, Calif.--- The 2024 Stan State Warrior men's and women's cross country teams will begin their 2024 seasons this Saturday, September 7 at the Seawolf Invite at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. The women's 5K race will start at 8:30 a.m. PT followed by the men's four-mile race at 9:15 a.m. PT. Woodward Park is the same place that the 2024 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships will take place Friday, October 25.
WOMEN
LAST YEAR: Stan State finished second at the CCAA Championships in Fremont, Calif., sixteen points behind Chico State. This snapped the Warriors streak of back-to-back CCAA Titles. Returners Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva and Annie Wild finished in the top 15 to earn All-CCAA honors. Sanchez-Silva finished in seventh place while Wild placed 13th. Sanchez-Silva was the top freshmen runner to earn CCAA Freshman Runner of the Year. At the West Regionals, Sanchez-Silva paced the Warriors with a 23rd place time of 21:42 which led Stan State to a ninth-place finish.
MEN
LAST YEAR: The Warriors finished in third place at the CCAA Championships behind Chico State and Cal Poly Pomona. This was their highest finish since 2007 when Stan State finished in second place. Returners Adin Dibble (26th), Dominic Robles (30th), and Nate Olsen (33rd) led the way for the Warriors. Olsen was the top freshmen placer to earn CCAA Freshman Runner of the Year. They finished in eighth place at the NCAA Division II West Regionals led by All-Region performer Jose Garcia's 12th place finish. Abe Alsaidi was the top returner who finished in 70th place. Garcia qualified for Nationals for the second time in his collegiate career and placed 143rd place.
SEAWOLF INVITE: Both the Stan State men and women's cross country teams will compete in the Seawolf Invite this Saturday morning at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif.
Among the NCAA Division II teams competing in both the men's and women's races will be the Warriors, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal Poly Pomona, Dominican, Jessup, Academy of Art, and UC Merced. Sonoma State, who is hosting the Seawolf Invite, will be just competing in the women's 5K race.

UP NEXT: Stan State will return to the course, Saturday, September 14 when the Warriors host the Kim Duyst Twilight Cross Country Invite at the River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, Calif. ONE MORE INVITE: After the Kim Duyst Twilight, Stan State will be off until October 11 when the Warriors participate in the SF State Invitational at Golden Gate Park's Speedway Meadows in San Francisco. This will be their last meet until they compete for the CCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships in Fresno, Calif., October 25.
