TURLOCK, Calif. — The Stanislaus State volleyball team continues its 2025 CCAA schedule this week with two key matches. The Warriors travel to San Francisco State on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m., before returning home to host Cal State Los Angeles, who is receiving votes nationally, on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. inside Fitzpatrick Arena.
Warriors Update
Stanislaus State enters the week at 7–6 overall and 5–1 in CCAA play after splitting a pair of road matches last weekend. The Warriors earned a five-set win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday before dropping a close five-setter at Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
The Warriors are hitting .200 as a team while averaging 11.9 kills per set. Offensively, Isabella Saucedo leads the way with 132 kills (2.69 per set) on .223 hitting, followed by Christallynn Tate with 99 kills (2.02 per set) and Fallon Freeman with 83 (2.02 per set). Shaelyn Pruiett paces the setting unit with 227 assists (5.0 per set), while Reagan Wilkerson adds 150 (3.8 per set). Leah Mendoza has been a defensive leader with 232 digs (4.7 per set), and Irene London anchors the front line with 47 total blocks (1.34 per set).
Dig Pink Match
Saturday's home match against Cal State Los Angeles will serve as Stanislaus State's annual Dig Pink Match, part of a nationwide initiative to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and support. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause when they come out to Fitzpatrick Arena.
NCAA and CCAA Leaders
Nationally, the Warriors rank 15th in NCAA Division II in blocks per set (2.48), while London stands 13th in the country individually in that category (1.34). Within the CCAA, London ranks second in blocks per set and sixth in total blocks (47). Mendoza leads the conference in both digs per set (4.73) and total digs (232), while Malia Tanksley ranks eighth in blocks per set (0.94) and tenth in total blocks (34).
Seeing Double
Five Warriors have recorded double-doubles this season. Shaelyn Pruiett and Isabella Saucedo lead the group with three apiece, while Reagan Wilkerson has also posted three. Kryslin James and Maggie Olson have each added one double-double to the team total.
Weekend Recap
The Warriors opened their road trip with a thrilling five-set win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday night, rallying after dropping two of the first three sets to take the match 20-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12. Christallynn Tate led the way with 19 kills on .340 hitting, while Isabella Saucedo added 15 kills and Fallon Freeman contributed 12. Setter Shaelyn Pruiett posted 26 assists and three aces, and Leah Mendoza collected 22 digs to lead the defense.
On Saturday, Stanislaus State battled through another five-set contest but came up just short at Cal State East Bay, falling 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 25-14, 10-15. Tate again powered the attack with 12 kills, and Saucedo followed with 14 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Pruiett tallied 22 assists and 17 digs, while Irene London totaled eight blocks at the net. The Warriors out-hit the Pioneers .193 to .164 for the weekend and averaged more than 12 kills per set across the two matches.
Scouting San Francisco State
San Francisco State carries a 5–8 overall record and a 4–2 mark in the CCAA. The Gators are hitting .206 and average 11.6 kills per set. They are led by Tamiya Wilson (137 kills, .259 hitting) and Grace Witcher (110 kills, 32 aces). Setter Melanie Hewlett averages 8.3 assists per set to pace the attack, while Alana Larson adds 21 aces and 87 digs. The Gators have won four of their last six matches, including home sweeps over Cal Poly Humboldt and UC Merced last weekend.
Series History vs. San Francisco State
San Francisco State owns a 22–9 advantage in the all-time series. The Warriors, however, claimed the most recent postseason meeting — a four-set victory in the 2024 CCAA Tournament semifinals, when Isabella Saucedo recorded 11 kills. The Gators won last season's regular-season matchup in San Francisco in straight sets. Stan State's last win in San Francisco was in 2016.
Scouting Cal State Los Angeles
Cal State LA enters the week at 10–3 overall and 6–0 in conference play, sitting atop the CCAA standings. The Golden Eagles have won six straight, including recent four-set victories over Cal State San Marcos and Chico State. Samarah DaCoud leads the offense with 232 kills (4.14 per set, .253 hitting), while Ayjah Landers adds 183 kills (3.27 per set). Setter Arielle Chandler has dished out 335 assists (6.3 per set), and Madison Clark leads the blocking unit with 41 block assists. As a team, LA averages 12.3 kills, 14.1 digs, and 1.9 blocks per set.
Series History vs. Cal State LA
Cal State LA leads the all-time series, 24–4. The Warriors won the most recent meeting, a four-set victory in the 2024 CCAA Championship final, where Shaelyn Pruiett totaled 16 assists and 11 digs. Stan State also defeated the Golden Eagles in five sets in Los Angeles last season but dropped the 2023 meeting in four sets in Turlock.
