Warriors Add Three Transfers for Spring
TURLOCK, Calif. – The Stanislaus State women's soccer team has bolstered its roster with three key transfers this spring: Lauren Johnston, Krystal Tovar, and Olivia Iturria. Each brings experience, skill, and a connection to the Warrior family, adding depth to an already competitive squad.
Lauren Johnston – Holding Midfielder/Center Back
Johnston arrives at Stan State from San Francisco State, where she was a steady presence in the midfield and backline. She now joins her younger sister, Shauna Johnston, on the pitch for the Warriors. With her ability to dictate play as a holding midfielder and provide stability as a center back, Johnston is expected to contribute immediately. Her leadership and composure in possession will be valuable assets as the Warriors prepare for the upcoming season.
Krystal Tovar – Outside Back
Tovar makes the move to Turlock from Sonoma State, where she competed in the highly competitive CCAA. A dynamic outside back, she excels at getting forward into the attack while remaining a tenacious defender. Tovar also carries a special connection to the program—she is the cousin of Bernie Bettencourt, one of the best players in Stan State women's soccer history. Now, she looks to make her own mark as a Warrior.
Olivia Iturria – Goalkeeper
Iturria joins the Warriors from Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz. The talented goalkeeper provides another strong option between the posts for Stan State, bringing quick reflexes and a commanding presence in the box. Her ability to organize the defense and make key saves will add depth to the position as the team builds toward the fall season.
Head coach Gabe Bolton is excited about the impact these three transfers will have on the program.
"We're thrilled to welcome Lauren, Krystal, and Olivia to the team," Bolton said. "Each of them brings something special to our group—experience, skill, and a deep connection to what it means to be a Warrior. We can't wait to see them compete this spring and beyond."
The Warriors continue their spring schedule as they prepare for the 2025 season, where they look to build on an outstanding 2024 season, in their pursuit of a conference title and an NCAA tournament appearance.
