Four Warriors Named to 2024 All-CCAA Baseball Team
TURLOCK, Calif.--- As announced the official of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), four members of the Stan State Warriors were named to the 2024 All-CCAA Baseball team as voted on by the league's eleven head coaches. The four Warriors to earn All-CCAA honors were Austin Balentine, Caleb Bertoncini, Chris Catalano, and Robert Valdivia.
Balentine was a Second Team honoree. This is the first time in his collegiate career that the Warrior right-handed pitcher has earned this honor. He finished the season with a 7-2 record with two saves in his fourteen appearances. The Fremont native struck out 37 batters and walked 16 in 54.1 innings pitched. Balentine won four of his last five starts on the mound including the last three in a row. He was named the CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 29-May 5. The sophomore is tied for third in wins (seven), ninth in least earned runs allowed (26), and tied for ninth in least walks allowed (16) in the CCAA.
Valdivia joins Balentine on the All-CCAA Second Team. This is the second year in a row that Valdivia was named to the All-CCAA Team. The Warrior shortstop was a Honorable Mention honoree in 2023. This season, he hit .315 with a .350 on-base and .400 slugging percentages. He started in all 47 games he played in at shortstop for the Stan State. The junior drove in 23 runs and scored 33 runs. He had 63 hits of which seven were doubles, two triples, and two home runs. The Adelanto native had a season-long eleven game hitting streak to go with his eleven game reached base safely streak. He recorded twenty multiple-hit and six multiple-run batted in games.
Bertoncini was an All-CCAA Honorable Mention selection. The senior finished with a 2-1 record with a team low 3.96 earned run average in his fifteen appearances on the mound. He struck out 35 batters and walked 16 in fifty innings pitched. Bertoncini was named the CCAA Pitcher of the Week, April 16-22, for his complete game victory over Cal State San Marcos. The Warrior senior is tied for sixth for least home runs allowed (four) and eighth with his earned run average (3.96) in the CCAA. This is the first time in his career that the Madera, Calif., native was named to the All-CCAA Team.
Catalano joins Bertoncini on the Honorable Mention Team in his first season as a Warrior. He stated in 43 games and hit a team high .358. Of his 58 hits, seven were doubles, four were home runs, and one a triple. He drove in twenty-four runs and scored thirty-five this season. The Warrior outfielder was nine-for-ten in stolen base attempts. Earlier this season, the Folsom native had a sixteen-game reached base safely streak to go with his seven-game hitting streak. He recorded eighteen multiple-hit games with four-multiple run batted in games.

- Play Suspended at Otter Invitational; Warriors to Resume Tuesday Morning at BayonetPlay was suspended due to darkness Monday evening at the Warriors' fall tournament at Bayonet Golf Course, as rainy conditions throughout the day slowed play and prevented completion of the second round. Stanislaus State still has two holes remaining in its second round and will resume play Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. to complete the round before immediately starting the third and final round of the 54-hole event.
