Stan State Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Program Finishes 11th Nationally
NEW ORLEANS — The Stanislaus State Women's Track & Field/Cross Country program wrapped up an impressive year by finishing 11th in the nation in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Program of the Year standings. This ranking reflects the Warriors' strong performances across all three NCAA Division II National Championship seasons: cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field.
"What a great year Stanislaus State Cross-Country/Track and Field had this year…hats off to the entire program of coaches and athletes for their dedication to the programs …we will use this as fuel to keep climbing," said head coach Troy Johnson.
National Standings & Honors
Adams State claimed the top spot in the NCAA Division II rankings, followed by Grand Valley State, West Texas A&M, Colorado State Pueblo, and Pittsburg State. Stan State placed 11th, the highest finish among teams from both the West Region and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Other programs rounding out the top 13 included Colorado School of Mines, Lewis, Lee (Tenn.), Wingate, Roberts Wesleyan, UC Colorado Springs, and the University of Mary.
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award is based on a points system determined by teams' finishes at the NCAA Championships in cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field. To be eligible, programs must qualify for all three championships. Lower cumulative scores across these events signify higher rankings.
