64 Stan State Student-Athletes Recognized with D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards
CLEVELAND — The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) has announced the 2024-25 recipients of its prestigious Academic Achievement Awards, honoring student-athletes for their academic excellence at the NCAA Division II level. Among the honorees, 64 student-athletes from Stanislaus State earned recognition for their outstanding scholastic performance during the academic year.
Since its inception, this program has been dedicated to celebrating the exceptional student-athletes who define excellence across our Division II landscape," said Traci Murphy, vice president for athletics at Daemen University and current D2 ADA President. "This year, we are thrilled to recognize a record number of deserving individuals, reflecting the unprecedented dedication within our division - not only in athletics, but in the classroom as well. This year's record-breaking submissions for both individuals and schools serve as a testament to the Division II way. Thanks to the administrators that nominated these outstanding individuals, and much-deserved congratulations to our 22,000-plus recipients."
For the first time since inception, there were more than 20,000 student-athletes recognized (22,756) from a record 202 institutions for the 2024-25 Academic Achievement Awards. This year's totals are the highest in the program's history. Historically, 190,032 total student-athletes have been recognized since the inception of the awards program.
Stanislaus State competes in 12 of the 14 sports sponsored by the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Additionally, the women's tennis team competes in the PacWest Conference, while women's indoor track and field participates as an independent program.
The goal of this program since inception has been to showcase the amazing student-athletes, coaches, and staff across our Division II landscape, said Mike McFarland, director of athletics at Bloomsburg University and current D2 ADA President. We are fortunate to recognize such deserving individuals on an annual basis. We couldn't be prouder of the work these individuals put into their craft. Our industry will be a better place as these student-athletes head out into the real world.
To be eligible for the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, student-athletes must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher;
- Complete a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college-level coursework at a two- or four-year institution; and
- Be an active member of an intercollegiate athletic team during the most recent academic year.
This recognition highlights the Warriors' dedication to both academic and athletic excellence and reflects Stanislaus State's continued commitment to supporting student-athletes in achieving success on the field and in the classroom.
Earlier this summer, two Warriors were named to the 2024-25 Academic All-American Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams sponsored by Collegiate Sports Communicators in Annie Wild (Second Team) and Trent Lauderdale (Third Team). Wild was named the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Seven Stan State Warrior Athletic Teams received academic honors from their respective coaches' associations in baseball, men's basketball, men's track & field, volleyball, women's soccer, women's tennis, and women's track & field.
Three of these coaches' associations recognize student-athletes for their academic accolades in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), and the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Seven Warrior women's tennis players were named to the ITA All-Academic Team: Nicollet Alexander, Jaedyn Hendryx, Annabelle Mulick, Parker Orlando, Alyssa Tay, Maiah White, Emma Yu, and Abigail Zhurko.
Five Stan State men's basketball student-athletes were recognized as NABC Honors Court members: Jason Cibull, Mahda Fallay, Jeremiah Jones, Tahjae Ordonio, and Jordan Smith.
