THIS WEEK IN WARRIOR SPORTS
 
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK/FIELD STARTS THIS SATURDAY IN SPOKANE
Stan State women's indoor track and field team will begin their 2023-24 indoor season this Saturday, December 9 in Spokane, Wash.  The Warriors will participate in the Spokane Invitational at The Podium in Spokane, Wash.  This will be the first six indoor invitationals the Warriors will participate in this season.  Their next invitational will be the two-day UW Preview on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash., Jan. 12-13, 2024.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL IMPROVE TO 6-4 AFTER 3-0 HOME STAND
Warriors finish three-game home stand 3-0 including 2-0 in the CCAA.  Stan State started the week with a 65-57 victory over Central Valley rival, Fresno Pacific on Tuesday evening.  The Warriors won their CCAA opener 69-46 Thursday evening over Cal State East Bay.  They finished the week with a 77-72 win over SF State Saturday afternoon.  The Warriors are now 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA.  Mya Blake and Liliana Marques led the way for the Warriors with their 11.7 and 11.0 respective scoring averages.  Lyric Richardson averaged 6.7 rebounds per game with Jadyn Patterson connecting on 66.7% of her attempts from beyond the arc.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL SPLITS TWO-GAME HOME STAND
Stan State went 1-1 in its first two home and CCAA games of the 2023-24 regular season.  The Warriors lost their home and conference opener Thursday evening 86-76 to Cal State East Bay.  They came back and defeated San Francisco State 70-65 Saturday afternoon to improve to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA.  Three Warriors averaged double figures in scoring in Dontrell Hewlett (16.5 ppg), John Wade III (14.5 ppg), and Daniel Ameyaw (12.5 ppg).  Ameyaw averaged 10.0 rebounds per game and Will Chavarin shot 71% from the field including 66.7% from three-point land.  
 
BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SEASONS AROUND THE CORNER
The Warrior baseball and softball seasons will start in two months.  Stan State's baseball team will begin its 2024 regular season with a 5pm non-conference game with Menlo College on February 2.  The Warriors will begin their CCAA season with a four-game series with Cal State Dominguez Hills at home, February 23-25.  
 
Stan State's softball team will begin its 2024 season, February 2-4, with four non-conference games in the Concordia Kickoff Classic in Irvine, Calif.  Their home opener will also be their CCAA opener, February 16 at noon against Cal State San Marcos.  The 21st Annual Tournament of Champions, presented by the City of Turlock will take place March 22-24 at Pedretti Park in Warrior Stadium. 
 
CRAB FEED SET FOR JANUARY 27
The Annual Warrior Athletics Crab Feed is set for January 27, 2024, at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena on the campus of Stanislaus State University.  The Crab Feed benefits the Warrior Athletic Scholarship Fund.  More details can be found at www.warriorathletics.com/crabfeed.
 
CCAA NETWORK/BLUE CHIP BROADCASTING
During the 2023-24 Academic Year, Warrior fans can watch the Stan State athletic teams on the CCAA Network for a monthly subscription rate of $9.95.  Fans can watch any Warrior athletic event that is hosted at any CCAA institution during that 30-day period. STAN STATE WARRIOR STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK ARE THE WARRIOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM AND DANIEL AMEYAW
This week's Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week are the 2023-24 Warrior women's basketball team and men's basketball post player Daniel Ameyaw.
 
The Warriors finished the week 3-0 including 2-0 in their CCAA games to improve to 6-4.  Stan State averaged 70.3 points per game while gave up just 58.3 points per game.  The Warriors outrebounded their opponents 44.7 to 36.7.  Stan State's defense forced 22 turnovers per game during the week and held its opponents to just 34% shooting including 27% from three-point land.  The Warriors defeated Fresno Pacific (65-57), Cal State East Bay (69-46), and SF State (77-72).
 
Ameyaw recorded his second career double-double with career highs with 18 points and 12 rebounds to key Stan Sate's 75-70 victory over SF State on Saturday.  He started the week scoring 9 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in the Warriors 86-76 loss to East Bay on Thursday.  The sophomore post player finished the week averaging a double-double (10 points, 12.5 rpg) whiel shooting 55% from the field.
