Stanislaus State Remains No. 1 Nationally in United Soccer Coaches Men’s Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Stanislaus State men's soccer team continues to hold the top spot in the nation, remaining No. 1 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Men's NCAA Division II poll released Tuesday (Oct. 28). The Warriors earned the program's first-ever No. 1 ranking last week and have continued their historic run, standing unbeaten at 13-0-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Stan State is riding a school-record 14-match unbeaten streak and remains one of only seven unbeaten teams in Division II.
Stanislaus State also continues to lead the West Region, holding the top position in the latest United Soccer Coaches regional rankings released Tuesday. The Warriors are joined by several other West Region programs featured in this week's national poll: Cal State Dominguez Hills is ranked No. 10, Point Loma Nazarene is No. 14, Seattle Pacific is No. 24, and Cal Poly Pomona is receiving votes.
In the latest United Soccer Coaches West Region poll (Poll 8, Oct. 28), Stanislaus State remains No. 1, followed by Cal State Dominguez Hills, Point Loma Nazarene, Seattle Pacific, and Cal Poly Pomona in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 are Cal State San Bernardino, Menlo, Cal State Los Angeles, Vanguard, and Hawai'i Hilo.
NCAA and CCAA Leaders
Stanislaus State continues to rank among the NCAA Division II elite, standing first nationally in winning percentage (.964) and among the leaders in nearly every major team category — third in assists per game, fourth in goal differential and save percentage (.864), sixth in shutout percentage (.571), seventh in both goals-against average (0.57) and total points, fifth in total assists, 12th in scoring offense, and 14th in total goals.
Individually, Samuel Villanueva ranks fifth nationally in assists per game and sixth in total assists. Angel Ruiz-Hernandez is fifth in shutouts, seventh in save percentage (.864), and eighth in goals-against average (0.57). Gerardo
Flores ranks fifth in game-winning goals, 18th in total goals, 14th in total points, 18th in points per game, and 24th in goals per game. Adrian Yepez stands 20th in total assists and 29th in assists per game.
Within the CCAA, Flores leads the conference in both goals and game-winning goals and is tied for sixth in assists. Emmanuel Duran is tied for fifth in goals and game-winners, while Sebastian Carbajal is tied for sixth in goals and fifth in game-winners. Villanueva continues to lead the CCAA in assists, with Yepez tied for third. Alexis Cervantes is tied for fifth in game-winning goals, and goalkeeper Ruiz-Hernandez tops the league in goals-against average (0.57), save percentage (.864), shutouts (8), and total saves.
In the Stan State record book, several Warriors continue to climb the charts. In single-season marks, Flores is tied for fifth in both points (23) and goals (9), while Yepez is tied for fourth in assists (6) and Villanueva stands second with nine assists. Ruiz-Hernandez is tied for second in single-season shutouts (7). In career categories, Villanueva ranks second all-time with 13 assists. Ruiz-Hernandez is tied for third in career shutouts (13), sixth in saves (107), third in wins (19), and fourth in minutes played (2,772).
The Warriors have officially clinched a spot in the 2025 CCAA Soccer Championship Tournament — their first postseason berth since 2015. The six-team tournament begins with first-round matches on Nov. 9 at the sites of the higher seeds. The top two seeds receive first-round byes, with the semifinals and final scheduled for Nov. 14–16 at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside, Calif.
The first NCAA Division II West Region rankings will be released on October 29, with the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship Selection Show set for November 17 at 7:00 p.m. PT on www.ncaa.com.
Stanislaus State will travel to Carson this Friday, Oct. 31, for a 7 p.m. matchup against No. 10 Cal State Dominguez Hills before closing out the regular season on Thursday, Nov. 6, with an 11:30 a.m. home match against UC Merced.
