Johnston Scores as Warriors Battle Late in CCAA Opener Against Cal State East Bay
TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stanislaus State women's soccer showed plenty of determination in its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener on Friday night, rallying in the second half before falling just short, 2-1, to Cal State East Bay at Warrior Stadium. The Warriors, now 4-2-2 overall, saw their five-match unbeaten streak come to a close but continued to show the resilience and creativity that has defined their strong start to the season.
First Half
The Warriors came out organized and energetic, creating several promising chances through combination play and set pieces. Stan State's defense stayed composed against early Pioneer pressure, keeping the match scoreless through 45 minutes. The half-ended level at 0-0, with the Warriors holding their own in an even, physical battle.
