Stan State Men’s Cross Country Ranked Sixth in 2025 USTFCCCA/NCAA DII West Region Preseason Poll
NEW ORLEANS — The Stanislaus State men's cross country team has been ranked sixth in the 2025 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)/NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country West Region Preseason Rankings, released today by the USTFCCCA. The Warriors will open their regular season by hosting the Kim Duyst Twilight meet at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, California.
Preseason Regional Rankings:
Chico State leads the preseason rankings, followed by Western Washington, Cal Poly Pomona, Northwest Nazarene, and Biola. Rounding out the top ten are Stan State, Cal State San Marcos, Concordia, Fresno Pacific, and Alaska. At last year's West Region Championships in Billings, Montana, Chico State captured the title, followed by Western Washington, Biola, Cal Poly Pomona, and Azusa Pacific. Stan State placed sixth in that event.
2024 CCAA Recap:
Under head coach Darren Holman, the Warriors return three All-CCAA honorees: Tanner Gerhart, Jackson Oliveira, and Mason Oliveira. Gerhart was named the 2024 CCAA Newcomer of the Year, while Jackson Oliveira earned 2024 CCAA Freshman of the Year honors. At the CCAA Championships in Fresno, Gerhart placed 10th with a time of 24:34.7, Jackson Oliveira finished 13th at 24:42.3, and Mason Oliveira came in 15th with a time of 24:44.7. The Warriors finished third overall, behind champion Chico State and runner-up Cal Poly Pomona.
2025 Schedule:
Stanislaus State opens the 2025 season at home with the Kim Duyst Twilight on Saturday, September 13 at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, California. The event will feature eleven high school races starting at 5:15 p.m. with the freshman/sophomore girls' 2K. The collegiate men's 8K is set for 8:30 p.m., followed by the women's 6K at 9:00 p.m.
The Warriors will then compete at the UC Riverside Invitational on September 27 at the AgOps Cross Country Course on the UC Riverside campus. Their final regular-season race will be the SF State Invitational on October 10 at Golden Gate Park's Speedway Meadows in San Francisco.
The 2025 CCAA Championships are scheduled for Friday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Bidwell Park in Chico, California. Stan State will then compete at the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships on November 8 at Ash Creek Preserve, Western Oregon University, in Monmouth, Oregon. Qualifiers will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships on November 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
