Stan State Men’s Basketball Earns Second-Straight NABC Academic Award; Five Warriors Named to Honors Court
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has recognized the Stanislaus State men's basketball program with the Team Academic Excellence Award for the second consecutive year. Five Warrior student-athletes in Jason Cibull, Mahda Fallay, Jeremiah Jones, Tahjae Ordonio, and Jordan Smith were also named to the 2024–25 NABC Honors Court.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award honors men's basketball programs that finish the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Honors Court celebrates junior, senior, and graduate-level student-athletes who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher during the 2024–25 academic year. These awards are presented across all levels of college basketball.
"Education is one of the NABC's five core values, and we are proud to recognize the academic accomplishments of these programs and individual student-athletes across our sport," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "The dedication and hard work of these athletes, along with their coaches and support staff members who prioritize academic success, deserves to be widely celebrated."
Led by head coach Paul Trevor, Stan State was among nearly 400 programs nationwide honored with the Team Academic Excellence Award and had five of the more than 2,400 student-athletes recognized on the Honors Court. The Warriors were also one of six programs from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) to receive the team honor.
Cibull, Smith, and Jones were additionally named to the 2024–25 CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, while Cibull and Jones earned Academic All-District honors earlier this year. Jones and Smith were also inducted into the inaugural class of Stan State's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. All five Warriors in Cibull, Fallay, Jones, Ordonio, and Smith earned Stan State Department of Athletics Honor Roll recognition for both the fall and spring semesters. Jones also earned All-CCAA First Team honors this past season.
