NEW ORLEANS---  Stan State women's outdoor track and field student-athletes Najwa Chouati became the 54t All-Americans in program history by placing in the top 12 in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas, this past Thursday.  Chouati finished in eighth place to earn USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II First Team All-American status

Student-athletes earned First-Team USTFCCCA All-American honors by virtue of finishing among the top-eight in their respective events – including as a member of a relay team – at the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Emporia, Kansas.

Chouati earned 2024 USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II First Team All-American honors by placing in the top eight. She ran a 35:33.25 to earn her second All-American honor in her career at Stan State.  At the 2022-23 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Va., Chouati placed seventh in the 3000-meter run with her time of 9:23.25 to earn All-American honors. She also finished 13th in the 5000-meter run at the Indoor Championships.

Fellow Warrior, Kaela Dishion, ran a 14th-place time of 36:25.56 just missing out on being an USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II All-American.  Earlier in her career, Dishion was an All-American at the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Seattle, Wash. She ran a 34th place time of 21:16.5 to earn All-American honors.

This is the second year in a row that a Warrior men's or women's track and field student-athlete has earned USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II All-American honors.  Trent Lauderdale placed tenth in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 51.87 at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo.

Earlier this month, Chouati and Dishion were named to the 2024 USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II All-West Region Team along with teammates Caitlyn Bell, Jason Lindsay, and Annie Wild.  Chouati was All-Region in the 1500 and 10,000-meter run while Dishion earned All-Region honors in the 10,000-meter run.  Bell earned All-Region in the women's hammer, Lindsay in the men's hammer, and Wild in the 1500-meter run.

Both Chouati and Dishion are in the Stan State Outdoor Track & Field record books.  Chouati holds the school record in the 10,000-meter run (34:00.12) and 5,000-meter run (16:21.79) while she is fourth in the 1500-meter run (4:26.90).  Dishion is second in the 10,000-meter run (34:32.33) and third in the 5,000-meter run (16:50.94).
