Warrior Volleyball Named a Recipient of the 2023-24 AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT
LEXINGTON, Ky.--- As announced by the American Valley Coaches Association (AVCA), Stan State's volleyball team were named a recipient of the 2023-24 AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT.
Stan State, coached by third=year head coach Lauren Flowers, was one of a record number of volleyball programs have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT. More than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year.
"We are pleased that the record-setting success of the 2023-24 season on the court has extended to the classroom, too, as evidenced by more programs earning the AVCA Team Academic Award than ever before," says AVCA CEO Dr. Jaime Gordon. "This is a great example of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their full potential as both students and athletes."
Last month, eight Warriors were named to the Stan State Department of Athletics Spring Honor Roll in Haley Burdo, Alex Byrd, Teagan Irish, Kryslin James, Autumn Kirby, Irene London, Gabby Rawson, and Ellison Weaver.
Three Stan State volleyball teams were named to the Academic All-District Team, sponsored by College Sports Information Directors in Haley Burdo, Alex Byrd, and Ellison Weaver. These three along with Makenna Carrillo, Kryslin James, and Isabella Saucedo were named to the 2023-24 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll.
Back in January, nine Warriors were named to the Stan State Department of Athletics' Fall Honor Roll in Haley Burdo, Alex Byrd, Makenna Carrillo, Eyriana Eatmon, Kryslin James, Irene London, Emily Meyer, Isabella Saucedo, and Ellison Weaver.
