Block Out Domestic Violence
TURLOCK, Calif. --- This October, Stan State volleyball is taking a stand during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month by "Blocking Out Domestic Violence". For every block by Stan State during their home volleyball matches, an anonymous donor has pledged $100 to local organization HAVEN.
"This is a very worthy cause that I am excited our team is able to shine a light on this October. I want to thank our generous donor for their support in showing our student-athletes that our voices matter and that the game is bigger than us," said Lauren Flowers, the head volleyball coach. "The team is excited to get some blocks this month!" The Warriors' first opportunity will be this Friday, October 4th, at 5:00 p.m. against San Francisco State University (9-3, 3-1 CCAA) at The Fitz, closely followed by Saturday's home match against #21 California State San Bernardino (7-4, 3-1 CCAA), also at 5:00 p.m.
HAVEN (Healthy Alternatives to Violent Environments) is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Stanislaus County. They provide supportive services, including safety planning, legal assistance and counseling, and emergency shelters to survivors of abuse, regardless of gender or gender identity.
