Warriors Climb Four Spots to Finish 13th at National Preview
BOULDER CITY, Nev.--- The Stanislaus State men's golf team capped its fall trip to Nevada with a strong finish at the National Preview, climbing four spots on the final day to place 13th at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Warriors fired a team score of 286 (-2) in Tuesday's third round to post a 54-hole total of 879 (+15).
Riley Kirk once again led the way for Stan State, tying for 39th at even-par 216 with rounds of 73–71–72. Chase Bird turned in the team's best final round, a 2-under 70, to move up and finish tied for 48th at 217 (+1) with rounds of 74–73–70. Ricky Sullivan followed at 222 (+6) with scores of 75–76–71, while Owen Bascom carded 76–75–76 for a 227 (+11). Carson Diaz rounded out the lineup with rounds of 80–78–73 to finish at 231 (+15).
Lynn University's Simon Roessler claimed individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 206 (-10), leading the Fighting Knights to the team title at 836 (-28). Midwestern State placed second at 838 (-26), and Cal State East Bay was third at 842 (-22).
The field at Boulder Creek featured several nationally ranked programs from the Sept. 19 Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll, including No. 3 Georgia Southwestern, No. 16 Cal State East Bay, No. 21 Chico State, No. 22 Missouri–St. Louis, No. 24 CSU Pueblo, and No. 25 Midwestern State.
This week's National Preview was played at Boulder Creek Golf Club—the same site that will host the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships in May.
The Warriors will wrap up their fall schedule next week at the Otter Invitational, October 13–14, at the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses in Seaside, Calif. Stanislaus State's 2026 spring schedule will be announced later this year in December.
