Nationally Ranked Stan State Women’s Cross Country Remain No. 1 in West Region
NEW ORLEANS — The nationally ranked Stanislaus State women's cross country team continues its dominant start to the 2025 season, holding steady at No. 1 in the NCAA Division II West Region, according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings released this week.
The Warriors, ranked No. 17 nationally, remain atop a competitive West Region that includes several fellow California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) programs. CCAA rival Chico State moved into the No. 2 spot in the latest poll, followed by Cal Poly Pomona at No. 3. Stan State is one of five CCAA schools ranked in the regional top 10. The next set of national rankings is scheduled to be released tomorrow afternoon.
Stan State opened its 2025 campaign in impressive fashion, winning the team title at the Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational on Saturday, September 13, at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. The Warriors secured the win in the 6K race with a combined team time of 1:47:25, averaging 21:29 per scoring runner. In a stacked field, the Warriors defeated four NCAA Division I programs — UC Davis, Nevada, Sacramento State, and Cal — and defeated Chico State, who was picked to win the CCAA. All five Stan State scorers placed in the top 30, led by junior Annie Wild, who finished third overall with a time of 21:02.7. Her time was just off her personal best of 20:38.1 set at the 2023 NCAA West Regional.
For her outstanding individual performance at the Kim Duyst Twilight, Annie Wild was recognized as the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Her third-place finish helped power the Warriors to the team title and showcased her leadership and consistency as a top runner in the region.
