NEW ORLEANS---  As announced this morning by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), six members of the 2024 Stan State men's and women's track and field team were named NCAA Division II Track & Field All-Academic Athletes.  These six are Caitlyn Bell, Najwa Chouati, Kaela Dishion, Nate Olsen, Mila Real, and Annie Wild.

To be named a NCAA Division II All-Academic Athlete by the USTFCCAA, a student-athlete must meet the following requirements:  Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, Competed at least 24 semester hours at the institution, and student-athlete must have achieved an automatic or provisional mark for either the indoor or outdoor season.

Bell recorded her provisional mark in the hammer this season with her throw of 53.86m (176-8) which she threw on at the Franson Last Chance Meet on May 9 in Azusa.  At the CCAA Championships, May 2-4, Bell was the conference champion with her throw of 51.87m (170-2) in the hammer. 

Chouati had two provisional times this season in the 1500, 5,000 and 10,000-meter run events.  She ran a 34:46.35 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, April 11 in the 10,000-meter run.  The senior runner ran a provisional time of 4:26.98 in the 1500, April 26, at the Fresno State Invite.  Her final provisional time of 16:42.37 was in the 5,000-meter which she ran on March 29 at the Mike Fanelli Classic in San Francisco.  Chouati earned All-American honors by running a 35:33.25 to finish in eighth place in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

At the CCAA Championships, Chouati was the Female Athlete of the Meet and Top Point recipient.  She won the 10,000-meter run and was runner-up in the 1500 and 5,000-meter run events.
Dishion recorded two provisional times this season in the 5,000 and 10,000-meter run.  She ran a 34:32.33 in the 10,000-meter run at the Franson Last Chance Meet in Azusa on May 9.  Her time of 16:50.05 was a provision al time in the 5,000-meter run on May 2 at the CCAA Championships.  She finished in 14^th place in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Championships with a time of 34:32.33. 

Olson recorded his provisional time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  The freshman runner ran a 9:08.78 at the Franson Last Chance Meet in Azusa, May 11. Real recorded her provisional time in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.05 at the CCAA Championships, May 2.

Wild recorded two provisional times during her first year as a Warrior in the 800-meter and the 1500-meter run.  She ran a 4:27.32 in the 1500-meter at the Franson Last Chance Meet (May 9) and a 2:10.99 in the 800 in the Bryan Clay Invite, April 11.  Wild captured the 800 and 1500-meter run events at the CCAA Championships.  She was named the CCAA Female Freshman of the Meet.

The trio of Bell, Chouati, and Dishion were named to the Academic All-District Team sponsored by the College Sports Communicators in May.  Bell, Chouati, Dishion, Olsen, Real, and Wild were named to the Stan State Department of Athletics Honor Roll in both the Fall and Spring Semesters this 2023-24 Academic Year.
