WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO HOST WARRIOR CLASSIC, NOVEMBER 17-18
Stan State will host the Annual Warrior Women's Basketball Classic, this Friday-Saturday, November 17-18 at The Fitzpatrick Arena. Friday's two games are 5pm: Cal State East Bay vs. Simon Fraser and 7pm: Stan State vs. Academy of Art. This will be Schedule Poster Night as posters will be handed out to the first 100 Warrior Fans. Saturday's two games are 1pm: Cal State East Bay vs. Academy Art and 3pm: Stan State vs. Simon Fraser.
VOLLEYBALL FINISHES SEASON WITH 1-1 HOME STAND
Stan State went 1-1 in its final two matches of the regular season at The Fitz. The Warriors started with a four-set loss to Cal State Los Angeles on Friday (18-25, 31-29, 16-25, 23-25). Ellison Weaver had nine kills and Alex Byrd had six blocks to lead the Warriors. Stan State swept Cal State Dominguez Hills on Senior Day on Saturday (25-19, 25-29, 25-20) on Saturday. Alex Byrd had 11 kills and Samaya Royal added 10 for the victors. Haley Burdo had her fifth double-double with 30 assists and 10 digs.
MEN'S BASKETBALL START OFF SEASON 1-1
The Warrior men's basketball team started their 2023-24 regular season going 1-1 at the PacWest/CCAA Conference Challenge in San Diego. They started with a heartbreaking 82-79 loss to No. 11 Point Loma Friday night. John Wade III had 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals while Dontrell Hewlett added 16 points and six rebounds. Stan State finished the weekend with a 56-53 victory Saturday over Fresno Pacific. The Warriors outscored FPU 9-2 in the final 90 seconds including Wade and Jonathan Tchengang going four-for-four from the charity stripe. Daniel Ameyaw had a career high 12 points and seven rebounds. Micah Boone and Wade each chipped in 10 points.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ENTERS WARRIOR CLASSIC 1-1
Stan State went 1-1 at the Pioneer Conference Challenge this weekend in Hayward. The Warriors started the weekend with a 74-64 victory over Northwest Nazarene behind five players scoring in double figures Friday. Liliana "Cookie" Marques led Stan State with 13 points while Mya Blake chipped in 11 points. Three players each scored ten points in Taylor Pilot, Joia Armstrong, and Asha Walker. The Warriors finished the Conference Challenge with a 66-58 loss to Central Washington Saturday. Blake paced the Warriors with 22 points and five assists. Marques added 13 points for the Warriors.
WARRIORS' JOSE GARCIA HEADING TO JOPLIN, MISSOURI
Stan State men's cross country runner, Jose Garcia, received an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships this Saturday, November 18 at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Mo. The 10K race will begin at 11:15am (CT) on the campus of Missouri Southern State University. Garcia earned All-West Region honors by finishing in 12th place at the NCAA Division II West Regionals, November 4 with a 10K time of 31:00.9. Also earning All-Region honors was Jacqueline Sanchez for the women's team with her 21st place finish at the 6K West Regionals.
EIGHT WARRIORS NAMED TO THE ALL-CCAA MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAMS
As announced last week by the CCAA, eight Stan State men's and women's soccer players were named to their respective All-CCAA teams. Alexis Brewah was named the CCAA Forward of the Year and Aliah Avila was the conference's Freshman of the Year. Brewah was a First Team selection and Avila was a Second Team honoreee. Malia Allen and Makeila Yancey were Honorable Mention selections. Tyler Tipton was the CCAA Forward of the Year. Tipton was named to the All-CCAA First Team and the trio of Finn Hoffmann, Julian Madrigal, and Sammy Villanueva were Honorable Mention selections.
CRAB FEED SET FOR JANUARY 27
The Annual Warrior Athletics Crab Feed is set for January 27, 2024, at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena on the campus of Stanislaus State University. The Crab Feed benefits the Warrior Athletic Scholarship Fund. More details can be found at www.warriorathletics.com/crabfeed.

STAN STATE WARRIOR STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK ARE MYA BLAKE AND JOHN WADE III
This week's Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week are a basketball players in Mya Blake and John Wade III. The duo led their respective teams to a 1-1 opening weekend to the 2023-24 regular season.
Blake averaged 16.5 points, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in her season debut as a Warrior. She shot 57% from the field including 56% from three-point land. The junior transfer started with 11 points in Stan State's victory over Northwest Nazarene on Friday. She finished the weekend with 22 points in the Warriors' loss to Central Washington on Saturday.
Wade averaged 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in the Stan State's 1-1 weekend in San Diego. He started with a 17-point, seven-rebound, five assist, four steal night in the Warriors' overtime loss at No. 11 Point Loma. Wade finished with 11 points including what were the game-winning free throws with seven seconds left in Stan State's 56-53 win over FPU.
