Kirk Leads the Way for Stan State at Wildcat Classic
MARYSVILLE, Calif. — Sophomore transfer Riley Kirk led the way for Stanislaus State at the 2025 Chico State Wildcat Classic, held at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club. Kirk posted a three-round score of 209 (-7) to tie for 10th individually in his first tournament as a Warrior.
Kirk opened the 54-hole event with back-to-back rounds of 69 before closing with a 71, delivering Stan State's best individual performance of the week. He was one of just 11 players in the 90-man field to finish the tournament at seven-under-par or better.
As a team, Stanislaus State finished in 8th place with a total score of 860 (-4), recording rounds of 288 (E), 286 (-2), and 286 (-2). While the overall result fell short of expectations, the tournament served as a starting point for a group still building chemistry early in the fall season.
Supporting Kirk in the team lineup were Ricky Sullivan (T-25, 215), Carson Diaz (T-33, 216), and both Owen Bascom and Chase Bird, who tied for 63rd at 222. Each of the latter two carded even-par 72s in the final round.
In individual competition, Ethan Gonsalves finished at 221 (+5) to tie for 56th.
Chico State took home the team title with a dominant score of 823 (-41), finishing 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Cal State East Bay. Chico State's Naoki Easterday and Vineet Vallamsetty shared individual medalist honors, both finishing at 203 (-13).
