Three Warriors Earn All-CCAA Honors; Wallace and Real Break School Records to Highlight Day One of CCAA’s for Stan State
TURLOCK, Calif.--- Three Stan Sate throwers earned All-CCAA honors in Alexis Nino, Cole Bailey, and Lamont Lane in the women's and men's hammer throw to start day one of the CCAA's for the Warriors. Alexis Nion captured the women's hammer while Cole Bailey and Lamont Lane finished second and third in the men's hammer. Rionna Wallace and Mila Real were two of ten Warriors to advance to Saturday's finals. Wallace broke the school record with her of 11.76 in the 100-meter dash preliminaries. Real broke the school record and is now 11th in the nation with her time of 1:00.00 in the 400-hurdles.
ALL-CCAA WARRIORS: The trio of Cole Bailey, Lamont Lane, and Alexis Nino earned All-CCAA honors by placing in the top three of their respective events in Day One of the CCAA Track & Field Championships. Nino captured the women's hammer with her throw of 158-8 (48.38m). The Warrior duo of Cole Bailey and Lamont Lane earned All-CCAA by finishing second and third respectively in the men's hammer. Bailey had a personal best throw of 178-0 (54.27m) to finish second. Lane finished in third with his throw of 177-1 (53.99m).
SCHOOL RECORDS/MOVIN' ON UP/NCAA QUALIFYING TIMES : Rionna Wallace and Mila Real broke the Stan State records in the 100-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles this afternoon. Wallace ran a time of 11.76 to break the seven-year school record of Naomi Peterson's 11.77. With that time, Wallace advanced to Saturday's finals. Real broke the eleven-year record of Andrea Severson's 1:00.35 with her time of 1:00.00 in the 400-hurdles. The Warrior hurdlers is now 11th in the nation in NCAA DII. She also advanced to the finals Saturday. Jaevin Sawyer is second in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.55 that advances him to Saturday's finals.
EARNING POINTS FOR THE WARRIORS: Including three All-CCAA Warriors, nine Stan State men's and women's track and field student-athletes earned points for the Warriors today. Finishing fourth in the men's hammer was Devin Hernandez (53.48m, 175-5). Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva ran a fourth-place time of 37:21.78 in the 10,000-meter run. Less than six seconds behind Sanchez-Silva was Yahaira Zuniga in fifth place in the 10,000-meter run (37:27.02). Finishing in sixth place in the 10,000-meter run was Makenzie Kordic (37:40.50).
Reyna Dismukes and Kayden Legan were seventh respectively in the long jump and 10,000-meter run. Dismukes had a jump of 18-2 ½ (5.55m) to finish seventh in the long jump. Legan ran a time of 38:08.28 in the 10,000-meter run.
ADVANCING TO SATURDAY'S FINALS: Besides Wallace, Real, and Sawyer, seven Warriors advance to the finals this Saturday. Annie Wild ran a first-place time of 4:41.47, Crystal Hernandez had a sixth-place time of 4:45.57, Dede Salcedo had an eighth-place time of 4:45.81, Tessa Vasquez ran a tenth-place time of 4:47.14, and Nina Furtado ran a 4:47.29 to finish eleventh to advance to Saturday's finals in the 1500-meter run.
Trent Lauderdale is in the Saturday's final of the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 52.43. Joining Real in the 400-meter hurdles finials is Shaylynn Wynn with third-place time of 1:03.85.
MULTI-EVENTS: Alfred Nunes is in sixth place in the decathlon heading into the final five events of the event on Friday with 3077 points. Chico State's is in first with 3687 points. Nunes finished in fifth in four events in 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, and high jump. He was in seventh in the 400-meter dash. The final five events of the decathlon will take place on Friday in the 110-hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500-meter run.

DAY TWO: Day Two of the CCAA Championships will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the 110-hurdles in the decathlon. The field events will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the women's triple jump and shot put. Six running events' preliminaries will take place on Friday in the men's and women's 200-meters, men's and women's 800-meters, women's 100-hurdles, and men's 110-hurdles starting at 4:15 p.m. The finals of the women's steeplechase will begin at 5:45 p.m. followed by the men's steeplechase at 6:05 p.m.
