Cross Country to Host Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational
TURLOCK, Calif.--- Both the Stan State men's and women's cross country teams will return to the course this Saturday, September 14 when the Warriors host the Kim Duyst Twilight at the River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, Calif. The 6K women's race will commence at 8:10 p.m. followed by the 8K men's race at 8:45 p.m.
WOMEN
LAST WEEK RECAP: In their first race of the 2024 season at the Seawolf Invite/CCAA Championship Preview in Fresno, Stan State Warriors finished in second place with 40 points. The Warriors had seven of the top fifteen finishers led by Annie Wild's fifth-place time of 18:45.41. Finishing eight seconds behind Wild was Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva in seventh place (18:53.21 followed by Tessa Vasquez in eighth place (19:00.31). Rounding out the scoring for the Warriors were Sophia Mirelez (12th, 19:21.18) and Dede Salcedo (13th, 19:23.13). Noheli Ron was the next Warrior to cross the finish line in 14th place (19:25.15) followed by Crystal Hernandez in 15th place (19:25.45). Finishing in 18th place was Nina Furtado (19:40.30) followed by Milca Osorio (20th, 19:49.03), Bela Moreno (21st, 19:52.22), and Aubrey Lascano (35th, 21:01.33).
MEN
LAST WEEK: The Warriors won their first race of the season with 26 points capturing the Seawolf Invite/CCAA Championship in Fresno. They had seven of the top ten finishers led by Tanner Gerhart's second-place finish time of 20:59.01. Finishing right behind Gerhart was Abe Alsaidi with a third-place time of 21:14.55. Crossing the finish line in sixth place was Mason Oliveira (21:18.96). Rounding out the scoring for Stan State were Jacob Diaz (seventh, 21:24.24) and Jackson Oliveira (eighth, 21:26.23). Nate Olsen finished in ninth place (21:26.44) and Dominic Robles ran a time of 21:26.93 to finish in tenth place. This was Gerhart's and the Oliveira brothers first collegiate cross country race.
KIM DUYST: Among the CCAA teams participate in the Kim Duyst will be both of the Chico State and San Francisco State men's and women's cross country teams. Three teams from the PacWest Conference will be in Ceres competing too in Jessup, Dominican, and Academy of Art. Future CCAA member, UC Merced, will be sending their me's and women's cross country teams to compete in the Kim Duyst this Saturday evening.

UP NEXT: Stan State will be off off until October 11 when the Warriors participate in the SF State Invitational at Golden Gate Park's Speedway Meadows in San Francisco. This will be their last meet until they compete for the CCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships in Fresno, Calif., October 25 at Woodward Park.
