For second straight week, Warriors hold No. 16 nationally and No. 1 in West Region in USTFCCCA/NCAA DII Rankings
NEW ORLEANS, La. — For the second week in a row, Stanislaus State women's cross country is ranked No. 16 in the NCAA Division II national poll released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
National Rankings
This marks the second straight week that Stan State has been ranked No. 16 nationally. The Warriors are one of three California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) programs included in the national rankings, joined by Chico State at No. 20, and Cal Poly Pomona at No. 26.
Regional Rankings
Stanislaus State is also No. 1 in the West Region for the second week in a row. The USTFCCCA announced Tuesday that there was no movement in the regional poll after a quiet competition week, leaving Stan State ahead of Chico State, Cal Poly Pomona, Point Loma Nazarene, and Biola. The Warriors are also one of four CCAA programs ranked in the region's top 10: Chico State at No. 2, Pomona at No. 3, San Marcos at No. 8, and Cal State East Bay at No. 10.
Last Time on the Course Recap
The Warriors opened the 2025 season at the Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational in Ceres with a commanding performance. The women's team secured the 6K team title with 75 points, placing all five scorers in the top 30. Junior Annie Wild led with a third-place finish in 21:02.7, followed by Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva (10th), Bela Moreno (11th), and freshmen Izzy Soto (27th) and Stevie Holguin (29th). The victory was especially impressive as Stan State defeated four NCAA Division I schools — UC Davis, Nevada, Sacramento State, and Cal — and also beat Chico State, who was the preseason pick to win the CCAA.
Looking Ahead
The Warriors return to action Saturday, Sept. 27, at the UC Riverside Invitational. The meet features a stacked field with Division I programs including UC Riverside, UCLA, Fresno State, San Diego State, UNLV, and UC Irvine. Stan State will also face West Region foes Cal State San Marcos, Biola, Fresno Pacific, Concordia-Irvine, and Cal State Dominguez Hills. Racing begins at 7:15 a.m. with the women's 6K invitational.
