Warriors Wrap Up Fall at Otter Invitational in Seaside
SEASIDE, Calif. — The Stanislaus State men's golf team will close out its fall season Monday and Tuesday, October 13–14, at the Otter Invitational, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses.
The Warriors enter their final event of the fall on a strong note after climbing four spots on the final day at last week's National Preview in Nevada to finish 13th at Boulder Creek Golf Club — the site of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. The event featured a competitive field that included several nationally ranked top-25 teams.
Stan State fired a team score of 286 (–2) in Tuesday's final round to post a 54-hole total of 879 (+15). Riley Kirk once again led the way, tying for 39th at even-par 216 with rounds of 73–71–72. Chase Bird turned in the team's best closing round, a 2-under 70, to tie for 48th at 217 (+1), while Ricky Sullivan followed at 222 (+6). Owen Bascom carded 227 (+11), and Carson Diaz finished at 231 (+15) to round out the lineup.
Earlier this fall, Stan State opened the season at the Chico State Wildcat Classic, finishing eighth with a team score of 860 (–4), and placed 13th at the Western Washington Invitational (900, +36). The Warriors have shown steady improvement across the fall campaign and will look to cap it with another solid performance on the Monterey Peninsula.
The Otter Invitational will feature another deep Division II field, including host Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Marcos, Sonoma State, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Chico State, Western New Mexico, Hawaii Hilo, Colorado Christian, and several other regional powers.
The Otter Invitational field includes several teams either ranked or receiving votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll (Oct. 4). Chico State enters the week ranked No. 20 nationally, while Cal State East Bay sits at No. 17. Colorado Christian, CSU Pueblo, and host Cal State Monterey Bay are among the programs receiving votes, underscoring the event's depth and competitive balance.
The Bayonet and Black Horse layouts are known for their narrow fairways, tiered greens, and shifting coastal winds, demanding precise ball striking and strong course management from start to finish.
Stanislaus State's lineup for the Otter Invitational will feature Riley Kirk, Ricky Sullivan, Chase Bird, Owen Bascom, and Carson Diaz, with Ethan Gonsalves competing as an individual. The Warriors will look to finish the fall on a high note before resuming play in the spring portion of their 2025–26 campaign.
