Wild Runs Third Fastest Time in Nation with School Record Time in 800
Stan State's Annie Wild ran a school record time in the mile with her time of 4:39.92 at the Boston Last Chance Meet on Sunday.  That time is currently the third fastest time in the nation in NCAA Division II.  Earlier this season, Wild provisionally qualified in the 800-meter run which is the 20th fastest time in the nation.  Wild is also part of the Distance Medley Relay Team with Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva, Crystal Hernandez, and Mila Real which hold the 23rd fastest time in the nation.  Sanchez-Silva is 22nd in the nation in the 5000-meter run.  Yahaira Zuniga and Hernandez are 48th and 55th in the 5,000-meter run.  The field for the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships will be announced this Tuesday, March 4. 
 
Softball Sweeps Chico State
The Warrior softball team swept the weekend's four-game CCAA series from the visiting Chico State Wildcats 5-2, 5-4, 3-2, and 1-0 (10).  Entering their four-game series at Cal State San Bernardino this weekend, the Warriors are 7-11 overall and 4-4 in the CCAA.  The Warriors are hitting .267 as a team with three players hitting over .300 in Katie Thornsberry (.366), Malia Babasa (.365), and Lauryn Serda (.314).  Victoria Alarcon has three of Stan State's seven wins in the circle followed by Sasha Martello with two.  Bree Barner and Shelby Frutoz each have recorded one victory. Alarcon has recorded 38 strikeouts, Frutzoz 20, Barner 14, and Martello seven.
 
Men's Golf Place Second at 12-team Battle in the Desert
The Warrior men's golf team finished in second place at the three-round Battle in the Desert with a school record 26-under par 838 just four strokes behind leader Georgia Southwestern.  Jack Peters and Chris Chomyn tied for first place each with a nine-under par 207.  Peters won the three-hole play-off as he birdied the final round.  Two other Warriors finished in the top twenty at the Battle in Nate Jetton (tied ninth, 210) and Chase Bird (tied 17th, 216).
 
Women's Tennis is 6-3 After Splitting Their Two Weekend Matches
Stan State improved to 6-3 on the season including 6-1 in matches against PacWest opponents.  The Warriors started the weekend with a 7-0 victory over Jessup on Friday.  Emma Yu/Annabelle Mulick and Jaedyn Hendryx/Abigail Zhurko each won by a 6-0 score at doubles and the team of Alyssa Tay/Maiah White won by a 6-1 decision.  They took all six singles points by Alyssa Tay (6-4, 6-0), Annabelle Mulick (6-3, 6-0), Maiah White (6-0, 6-1), Abbigail Mulick (6-0, 6-0), Parker Orlando (6-0, 6-0), and Nicollet Alexander (6-1, 6-1).  The Warriors lost 4-3 to Dominican.  They won the doubles points as Emma Yu/Annabelle Mulick won by a 6-2 deicsion and Tay/White won by a 6-4 decision. At singles, Annabelle Mulick won at number 3 (6-2, 6-1) and Parker Orlando won by number six singles (4-6, 6-4, 6-3).
 
Track and Field Hosted Kim Duyst Invite
The Warrior men's and women's track and field team hosted the Annual Kim Duyst Invite this weekend.  During the invitational, Stan State recognized its twenty senior student-athletes.  Stan State had six student-athletes place first in their respective events.  The six first place Warriors were Tanner Gerhart (5,000 section A), Alexis Nino (hammer), Trent Lauderdale (400 hurdles), Mason Oliveira (5000 section B), Tesssa Vasquez (1500), and Yahaira Zuniga (5,000).
 
Baseball to host Cal State Los Angeles this Friday-Sunday, March 7-9
Stan State enters its four-game series with Cal State Los Angeles this weekend with an 8-10 overall record and a 3-5 CCAA record after going 1-3 at Cal State Dominguez Hills.  The Warriors lost the first three games 4-0, 4-1, and 5-1, but won the series final 15-4.  As a team, the Warriors are hitting .282 as a team.  Five players are hitting over .300 in Ryan Leonesio (.392), Luke Davies (.357), Arthur Navarette Jr. (.348), Jacob Baker (.315), and Robert Valdivia (.314).  They have 19 stolen bases in 23 attempt led by Baker and Danny Murphy each with four.  Three pitchers have two victories each in Austin BalentineCaleb Bertoncini, and Zach GeissRocco Gurrola has struck out a team high 25 batters followed by Cameron Rosen with 17 and Balentine with 16.
 
Men's Basketball Finishes Season and Recognizes Five Seniors
The Warrior men's basketball team went 0-2 in their final two games of the regular season losing 72-61 to Cal Poly Pomona and 92-75 to Cal State San Bernardino.  They finished with a 11-17 overall record and an 8-14 CCAA record.  Prior to the game on Saturday, they recognized their five seniors in William Chavarin, Mahda Falley, Jeremiah Jones, Jonathan Tchengang, and Cameron Walker.  Jones led the Warriors with his 18.5 scoring average, 88.4% shootin from toe line, and 36 threes made.  Daniel Ameyaw averaged a team leading 7.4 rebounds per game and 49.2% shooting from the field.  Jones and Jonathan Tchengang each led Stan State with 31 steals while Jones led Stan State with his 83 assists. 
 
Women's Basketball Recognized Lewis and Scott-Mitchell on Senior Weekend
Stan State women's basketball team recognized its two seniors in Da'Myiah Lewis and Daja Scott Mitchell prior their final home game versus CSU San Bernardino on Saturday.  In their final home stand, Stan State went 0-2 against No. 16 Cal Poly Pomona (72-61) and Cal State San Bernardino (87-67).  The Warriors finished the season 5-23 overall and 4-18 in the CCAA.  Lewis led the team with her 17.0 scoring and 8.8 averages along with her 75% shooting from the line.  Krista Andersen blocked a team high 29 shots with Jadyn Patterson leading the team with her 44 steals and 57 assists.

Chomyn, Peters, Wild, and Warrior Softball Are This Week's Stan State Warriors Student-Athletes of the Week, Presented by KW Recovery Lab
This week's Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by KW Recovery Lab are men's golfers Chris Chomyn and Jack Peters, Stan State's softball team, and distance runner Annie Wild. 
 
Chris Chomyn and Jack Peters tied for first place at the Battle in the Desert in leading the Warriors to a runner-up finish at the three-day tournament.  Each Warrior shot a three-round score of nine-under par 207.  Peters won the play-off round by birding the third hole with his teammate.  They were both named FloCollege/CCAA Co-Men's Golfers of the Week.
 
Annie Wild improved her NCAA provisional time in the mile with a school record time of 4:39.92 at the Boston Last Chance Meet in Boston, Massachusetts, on Sunday.  She holds the third fastest time in the nation in NCAA Division II.
 
The Warrior softball team swept the weekend's four-game CCAA series with rival Chico State at home to improve to 4-4 in conference games.  Stan State defeated the Wildcats 5-2, 5-4, 3-2, and 1-0 in ten innings.  Karli DalBianco's one-out run scoring double brought in Malia Babasa with the game-winning run in the tenth.  Recording victories in the circle for Stan State were:  Sasha Martello, Shelby Frutoz, Victoria Alarcon, and Bree Barner
