Stan State Track & Field Programs Earn Back-to-Back NCAA Division II All-Academic Team Honors
NEW ORLEANS — Stan State men's and women's track and field teams, coached by Troy Johnson, were named recipients of the 2025 NCAA Division II All-Academic Team as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.
This marks the second consecutive year that both the Warrior men's and women's track and field teams have earned this prestigious academic honor.
To qualify for NCAA Division II All-Academic Team recognition, teams must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher for all student-athletes listed on the NCAA Squad List for indoor and/or outdoor track and field.
The Warriors were one of seven men's teams from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) to receive this honor which includes Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State San Marcos, Chico State, San Francisco State, and Stan State. They were one of eight women's teams from the CCAA to receive these honors which includes Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, Chico State, San Francisco State, and Stan State.
As announced Monday by the USTFCCCA, Annie Wild was named the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA). Wild and three of her teammates were named NCAA Division II Track & Field All-Academic Athletes. Joining Wild were Crystal Hernandez, Trent Lauderdale, and Mila Real.
Last week, both Wild and Lauderdale were named to their respective 2024-25 Academic All-America® Track & Field Teams as sponsored by the Collegiate Sports Communicators.
Earlier this month, nine Warriors were named to the 2024-25 CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. Nine were also named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team as selected by the Collegiate Sports Communicators.
At the 2024-25 STANYs, seven Stan State track & field student-athletes were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society in Cole Bailey, Adin Dibble, Crystal Hernandez, Lamont Lane, Ariana Puccini, Dominic Robles, and Christopher Ruiz. Lane was selected as the Stan State Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Lauderdale was the recipient of the Stan State Male Athlete of the Year while Wild was the Stan State Female Athlete of the Year.
Cole Bailey was awarded the Will Keener Sportsmanship Award. The Stan State Female Newcomer of the Year went to Rionna Wallace. Tanner Gerhart was the Warrior Male Newcomer of the Year. The duo of Jackson Oliveira and Jaevin Sawyer were named the Stan State Male Co-Freshman of the Year recipients.
Three Warriors earned All-American honors this academic year. Annie Wild was the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Champion in the women's mile. She also earned All-American honors by placing fifth in the 1500-meters at the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Trent Lauderdale placed fourth in the 400-hurdles to earn All-American honors at the outdoor championships. Joining Lauderdale and Wild in earning All-American honors was Mila Real by placing eighth in the 400-hurdles.
Nine Stan State track & field student-athletes earned All-West Region honors this year: Crystal Hernandez, Lamont Lane, Trent Lauderdale, Alexis Nino, Mila Real, Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva, Jaevin Sawyer, Annie Wild, and Yahaira Zuniga.
At the 2025 CCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in May, the Warriors earned All-CCAA honors in 15 events by placing in the top three in their respective events. Leading the way were Trent Lauderdale (400 hurdles, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay), Alexis Nino (hammer, shot put), Mila Real (400 hurdles, 100 hurdles, 4x400 relay), Jaevin Sawyer (200-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 4x400 relay), Rionna Wallace (100-meter dash, 4x400 relay), and Annie Wild (1500-meter run, 800-meter run) for earning multiple All-CCAA honors.
