HOME OPENERS SET FOR THIS WEEK FOR CROSS COUNTRY, VOLLEYBALL, AND WOMEN'S SOCCER
Four of the five Stan State Fall Teams will have their respective home opener this week. The Warrior volleyball team will host the six-team Stan State Volleyball Tournament this Thursday-Saturday, September 12-14 at Fitzpatrick Arena. Stan State will face UC Merced (Thursday at 5:30pm), Menlo (Friday at 5pm), Jessup (Saturday at 2pm), and Dominican (Saturday at 7pm). Thursday's match versus UC Merced will be Student Affairs Night.
Women's soccer will face Western Oregon this Thursday at 7pm in their home opener at Warrior Stadium on Latin X/Hispanic Appreciation Night. The Warriors will host Southern Oregon on Sunday, September 15 at 7pm.
Stan State men's and women's cross country teams will host The Kim Duyst Twilight Invite at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, Calif., this Saturday, Sept. 14. The 6K women's race will commence at 8:10pm followed by the men's 8K race at 8:45pm.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY CAPTURES SEAWOLF INVITE/CCAA CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
Stan State men's cross country team captured the four-mile Seawolf Invite/CCAA Championship Preview this Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno. The Warriors had seven of the ten top finishers paced by Tanner Gerhart's second-place time of 20:59.1. Rounding out the 26 points for Stan State were Abe Alsaidi (third place, 21:14.6), Mason Oliveira (sixth place, 21:19.0), Jacob Diaz (seventh place, 21:24.3), and Jackson Oliveira (eighth place, 21:26.3). Nate Olsen finished in ninth place and Dominic Robles placed tenth while Adin Dibble finished in 21st place for the Warriors.
VOLLEYBALL FINISHES 4-0 AT SUNBIRD CLASSIC
The Warrior volleyball team started their 2024 season with four straight victories at the Sunbird Classic in Fresno. They lost just three sets during their four matches. Stan State defeated Fresno Pacific in four sets, Jessup in five sets, and Academy of Art and Dominican in three sets. Malia Tanksley recorded a team high 34 kills with just nine errors in her 78 attempts over the weekend. Right behind here were Isabella Saucedo with 28 kills and Ellison Weaver and Mariah Iosua each with 25. Haley Burdo had 63 assists followed by Shaelyn Pruiett's 54. Devyn Nifo and Pruiett each had a team leading seven service aces while Gabby Rawson led the Warriors with 50 digs. Alex Byrd led the Warriors with 14 total blocks.
WOMEN'S SOCCER GOES 1-1 ON ROAD TRIP
Stan State went 1-1 in its two-match road trip to Washington and Canada. The Warriors defeated Saint Martin's 3-1 on Sept. 5 as Jocelin Roa, Haylee Heffner, and Aliah Avila each scored goals for the victors. Heffner, Arionna Imhoff, and Kyndra Obermeyer each assisted on those three goals. They finished the weekend with a 2-0 loss at Simon Fraser on Sept. 7. For the weekend, Malia Allen and Natalia Ochoa each shared time in goal. Ochoa posted a 0.00 goals against average with two saves and Allen had three saves and a 3.00 goals against average.
MEN'S SOCCER START OFF FOUR-MATCH ROAD TRIP 1-1
The Warriors started their 2024 regular season 1-1 in their two matches in Lacey, Wash. Stan State defeated Saint Martin's in its regular season opener on Thursday, 4-1. Marco Carbajal, Adrian Yepez, Sammy Villanueva, and Edgar Castaneda each scored goals in the victory for Stan State. Alecxander Cuellar and Jose Ponce recorded assists on Carbajal and Castaneda's goals. Angel Ruiz-Hernandez posted a 2.00 goals against average with seven saves in goal for the Warriors.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACE SECOND AT SEAWOLF INVITE/CCAA CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
Stan State women's cross country team finished in second place with 40 points at Seawolf Invite/CCAA Championship Preview this Saturday in Fresno. The Warriors had seven of the top 15 finishers paced by Annie Wild (fifth, 18:45.5). Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva finished in seventh place (18:53.3) followed by Tessa Vasquez (eighth, 19:00.4), Sophia Mirelez (12th, 19:21.2), and Dede Salcedo (13th, 19:23.2). Also finishing for the Warriors were Noheli Ron (14th, 19:25.2), Crystal Hernandez (15th, 19:25.5), Nina Furtado (18th, 19:40.3), Milca Osorio (20th, 19:49.1), Bela Moreno (21st, 19:52.3), and Aubrey Lascano (35th, 21:01.4).

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY AND MALIA TANKSLEY THIS WEEK'S STAN STATE WARRIOR STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK, PRESENTED BY KW RECOVERY LAB
This week's Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Kia Recovery Lab, are the Warrior men's cross country team and women's volleyball player Malia Tanksley.
The Warriors won their first race of the season with 26 points. They had seven of the top ten finishers led by Tanner Gerhart's second-place finish time of 20:59.01. Finishing right behind Gerhart was Abe Alsaidi with a third-place time of 21:14.55. Crossing the finish line in sixth place was Mason Oliveira (21:18.96). Rounding out the scoring for Stan State were Jacob Diaz (seventh, 21:24.24) and Jackson Oliveira (eighth, 21:26.23).
In her first collegiate matches of her career, Malia Tanksley hit for .321 with 34 kills in the Warriors' 4-0 weekend with only nine errors in 74 attempts. She also had eight digs and nine total blocks including four in back-to-back matches to start the season. In Stan State's three-set victory over Dominican, the Warrior freshman had a season high 12 kills with three digs.

The Warriors (5-2-4, 1-1-2 CCAA) climbed into the poll after earning a pair of results on their Southern California trip against Cal State San Bernardino and top-ranked Cal Poly Pomona.
- Play Suspended at Otter Invitational; Warriors to Resume Tuesday Morning at BayonetPlay was suspended due to darkness Monday evening at the Warriors' fall tournament at Bayonet Golf Course, as rainy conditions throughout the day slowed play and prevented completion of the second round. Stanislaus State still has two holes remaining in its second round and will resume play Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. to complete the round before immediately starting the third and final round of the 54-hole event.
- Senior Day This Sunday Highlights Weekend for No. 3 WarriorsRiding a ten-match unbeaten streak, the No. 3-ranked Stanislaus State men's soccer team heads into the final weekend of the regular season with two pivotal California Collegiate Athletic Association matchups — at Cal Poly Humboldt on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m., and back home for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. against Cal State San Marcos.
