Stan State Third in the Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner’s Cup Standings Heading into the Final Weeks of 2024-25

TURLOCK, Calif.---  After the conclusion of the winter seasons, Stan State's Department of Athletics is third in the 2024-25 Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup Standings.  The top three institutions in the CCAA heading into the final two months of the academic year are 1.) Cal Poly Pomona 72.03; 2.) Chcio State 63.25; and 3.) Stan State 49.15 points.

Stan State men's basketball team had two players earn All-CCAA honors in Jeremiah Jones and Daniel Ameyaw.  For the first time in their careers, Jones was a First Team honoree and Ameyaw was an Honorable Mention selection.  Earlier in the season, Jones was named the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Da'Myiah Lewis was named to the All-CCAA Women's Basketball Second Team.  This was the second time in her career that Lewis has been named to the All-CCAA Team.  Earlier in her career, Lewis was named to the 2021-22 All-CCAA Honorable Mention Team. 

Three Warriors were named to the Academic All-District Team as selected by College Sports Communicators in Jason Cibull, Jeremiah Jones, and Alyssa Premo.

As announced earlier this week, Stan State had 37 student-athletes named to the 2024-25 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll. 

This March at the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, Annie Wild became Stan State's First Indoor National Champion by capturing the mile in Indianapolis, Ind. 

This Fall, Stan State's volleyball team captured its first ever CCAA Tournament Championship in November.  The Warriors received the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship for the first time in program history. The Warriors had six players named to the All-CCAA Team led by two-time CCAA Libero of the Year Gabby RawsonMalia Tanksley was the conference's Freshman of the Year.  Rawson was a First Team honoree while Alex Byrd was a Second Team selection.  Four Warriors were Honorable Mention Team selections in Haley Burdo, Makenna Carrillo, Autumn Kirby, and Tanksley.

For the third time in the last four years, Stan State women's cross country team advanced to the NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championships.  The Warriors finished in 24th place led by Annie Wild's 59th place time of 21:47.5 in the 6K race.  At the NCAA Division II West Regionals, Stan State finished in in fifth place led by its two All-West Region honorees Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva (9th, 21:07.39) and Wild (13th, 21:26.06).  The Warriors finished in second place at the CCAA's with three runners earning All-CCAA honors by placing in the top 15 in Wild (third, 21:20.3), Sanchez-Silva (fifth, 21:38.4) and Crystal Hernandez (seventh, 22:00.7). Stan State was ranked in in the top 25 for seven consecutive weeks including being as high as 21st in the nation. 

Stan State women's soccer team, under the guidance of head coach Gabriel Bolton, advanced to the CCAA Championship Tournament for the eleventh time and the third consecutive season.  Five Warriors received All-CCAA honors highlighted by Aliah Avila being named the 2024 CCAA Midfielder of the Year.  Avila was a First Team honoree while Shauna Johnston, Kaley Miller, Jocelin Roa, and Makeila Yancey were Honorable Mention selections. 

The Warrior men's cross country finished in third place at the CCAA Cross Country Championships in October in Fresno.  Three runners received All-CCAA honors by placing in the top 15 in Tanner Gerhart (10th, 24:34.7), Jackson Oliveira (13th, 24:42.3), and Mason Oliveira (15th, 24:44.7).  Gerhart was the CCAA Newcomer of the Year and Jackson Oliveira was the Freshman of the Year. 

Stan State men's soccer team and had four student-athletes named to the All-CCAA Honorable Mention Team in Edgar Castaneda, Alecxander Cuellar, Angel Ruiz-Hernandez, and Sammy Villanueva.

The CCAA sponsors the following intercollegiate sports in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's soccer, softball, and volleyball.  Stan State is a member in the CCAA in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's soccer, softball, and volleyball.  The Warrior women's tennis team is an affiliated member of the PacWest Conference and independent in women's indoor track and field.
