THIS WEEK IN WARRIOR SPORTS
WARRIORS HOSTING 49TH ANNUAL HANNY STANISLAUS INVITE, MARCH 25-26
Stan State men's golf team will host the 49th Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invite this Monday-Tuesday, March 25-26 at the par-72 Turlock Golf & Country Club in Turlock, Calif. The three round tournament will start at 9:00 a.m. as the sixteen teams will play two shotgun rounds on Monday. The tournament will conclude with a 8:30am starting final shotgun starting round on Tuesday. After the conclusion of the tournament and the awards ceremony luncheon on Tuesday, Stan State will recognize its three seniors in Chris Chomyn, Jarred Hernandez, and Nate Jetton.
FERREIRA/MARTELLO NAMED TO TOC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
The duo of Mikaela Ferreira and Sasha Martello led the Warriors to a 3-1 record at the 21st Annual Tournament of Champions, presented by the City of Turlock. Both were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Warriors defeated Azusa Pacific (6-3), Central Washington (7-5), and Dominican (8-7, eight innings) but they lost 11-5 to Hawai'i Hilo. The Warriors hit .354 as a team with two Stan State players hitting over .500 in Mikaela Ferreira (.800) and Karli DalBianco (583). Sasha Martello recorded two victories and a save while Shelby Frutoz picked up a victory.
BASEBALL PICKS UP SERIES WIN
Stan State took three out of four games from the visiting Cal State East Bay Pioneers for the Warriors' first CCAA series victory of the season. The Warriors started the series with a 15-2 victory. They split a doubleheader losing 5-2 and taking the night cap 3-1. Stan State finished the series with an 11-10 extra-inning victory. The Warriors .329 as a team with six players hitting over .333 in Chris Catalano (.412), Mac Cabero (.400), Danny Murphy (.375), Robert Valdivia (.333), Alex Solis (.333), and Kyle Rachels (.333). Austin Balentine, Caleb Bertoncini, and Quinn Oliver recording victories. Noah Chelberg recorded his first save of the season. Tony Jacob recorded nine strikeouts and Bertoncini had eight.
WOMEN'S TENNIS FINISHES WEEKEND 1-1
The Warrior women's tennis team went 1-1 in their two road matches this weekend. Stan State started with a nail biting 4-3 loss at Menlo College on Thursday. The trio of Alyssa Tay, Annabelle Mulick, and Abbigail Mulick all at won at singles. The doubles' team of Zuzanna Dziewiecka/Annabelle Mulick at number two double against the Oaks. Stan State finished with a 4-0 victory over Cal State L.A. on Saturday. Dziewiecka, Tay, and Annabelle Mulick won at singles (1,2, and 3). The doubles teams of Tay/Emma Yu and Nicollet Alexander/Abbigail Mulick were victorious in their matches.
TRACK RECORD SEVERAL PERSONAL BESTS
Both Stan State men's and women's track and field teams participated in the West Coast Relays this weekend in Fresno. The Warriors had sixteen top five finishers in their respective events including three first place finishers. Najwa Chouati won the women's 1500, Ero Doce captured the men's 1500, and Alfred Nunes won the pole vault. Reyna Dismukes finished second in the triple jump while Annie Wild was second in the 1500. Third place Warriors were: Yahaira Zuniga (1500), Devin Hernandez (shot put), Jason Lindsay (discus), and the men's 4x100 relay team. Jose Garcia finished fourth in the 1500 as did Cole Bailey in the discus and Jason Lindsay in the hammer. Fifth place finishers for Stan State were Mila Real (400 hurdles), Abe Alsaidi (1500), and Lamont Lane (hammer).

STAN STATE WARRIOR STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK ARE CALEB BERTONCINI AND MIKAELA FERREIRA
This week's Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week are softball player Mikaela Ferreira and baseball pitcher Caleb Bertoncini.
Ferreira hit .800 in the Warriors' four games as she led them to a 3-1 week at the TOC. SHe had 12 hits of which three were doubles. She drove in two runs and scored five times. The 2023 CCAA Newcomer of the Year was four-for-four in their 8-7 tournament finale extra-inning victory.
Bertoncini picked up first win of the season in his first start in the Warriors' 3-1 game three victory on Saturday evening. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up four htis and a run while striking out a season high eight batters and walking just two.

The Warriors were one of just five Division II programs in the race and held their own against a lineup filled with Division I competition.
- Warriors Sweep Chico State for Third Straight CCAA VictoryThe Stanislaus State volleyball team turned in a dominant performance Friday night at Fitzpatrick Arena, sweeping Chico State in straight sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-13) to extend its winning streak to three matches and remain unbeaten in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. Led by Isabella Saucedo's 14 kills and a balanced team effort at the net, the Warriors improved to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in conference action while limiting the Wildcats to just a .082 hitting percentage.
- Stanislaus State Men’s Golf Heads to Western Washington InvitationalThe Stanislaus State Warriors men's golf team will continue its 2025-26 fall campaign next week, teeing off at the Western Washington University Invitational, hosted at Bellingham Golf & Country Club in Bellingham, Wash. The event is slated for September 29–30, featuring 54 holes (36 on day one, 18 on day two) with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. each morning.
- Rodriguez, Figueroa Goals Lift Warriors to 2-1 Win at WestmontStanislaus State leaned on clutch goals from Kellyann Rodriguez and Jocelyn Figueroa — and a dominant 19-7 shot advantage — to earn a 2-1 road victory over Westmont on Thursday afternoon. With the result, the Warriors improved to 3-1-2 on the season. Rodriguez struck first with her opening goal of the year, and after Westmont equalized midway through the second half, Figueroa answered just two minutes later with her first career game-winner — and third career goal — off a cross from Haylee Sousa to push Stan State past their hosts.
- Stanislaus State Cross Country Set for UC Riverside Invitational SaturdayAfter capturing the Kim Duyst Twilight and finishing seventh at their last meet two weeks ago, the 16th-ranked Stanislaus State women's team and the Warrior men return to competition this Saturday, Sept. 27, at the UC Riverside Invitational on the AgOps Course.
