No. 3 Stan State Tops No. 24 Cal State San Bernardino, 3–2, Behind Goals from Duran, Flores and Yepez

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.---No. 3 Stanislaus State continued its unbeaten start to the season with another ranked victory Friday afternoon, defeating No. 24 Cal State San Bernardino, 3–2, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association matchup at Premier Field. Emmanuel Duran opened the scoring in the fourth minute off assists from Adrian Yepez and David Lozano, Gerardo Flores added his sixth of the season in the 62nd minute from Duran, and Yepez netted the game-winner in the 75th minute to lift the Warriors to their third win over a ranked opponent this season.

The win moves Stan State to 8-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the CCAA, while the Coyotes dropped to 5-2-3, 0-1-1. The Warriors are now 3-0 against teams ranked at the time of the match—defeating then-No. 19 Menlo, No. 21 Cal State LA, and now-No. 24 Cal State San Bernardino. Seattle Pacific, which Stan State also beat earlier this season, has since entered the national rankings.

First Half Recap:
Stan State struck early when Emmanuel Duran finished a feed from Adrian Yepez and David Lozano in the fourth minute for his sixth goal of the season. The Coyotes leveled in the 10th minute on a goal by Tony Negrete, assisted by Anthony Morales.

Goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez kept the Warriors steady in the opening half, making six saves to keep the match tied 1–1 at the break despite a 14–4 shot advantage for CSUSB.

Second Half Recap:
Stan State regained the lead in the 62nd minute when Gerardo Flores scored his sixth goal of the season off a setup from Duran. Moments later, the Coyotes answered on a penalty kick by Morales to tie it 2–2.

In the 75th minute, Yepez delivered the decisive strike—his first game-winner of the season and the third of his collegiate career—to put Stan State ahead 3–2. The Warriors' back line held firm the rest of the way, limiting the Coyotes to just four shots after halftime.

Stan State Notables:

·       Adrian Yepez and Emmanuel Duran each recorded a goal and an assist.

·       Yepez's goal marked his first game-winner this season and third in his collegiate career.

·       Duran and Flores are now tied for the team lead with six goals apiece and share the CCAA lead in goals scored.

·       Angel Ruiz-Hernandez made six first-half saves.

·       Stan State improved to 3-0 against ranked opponents at the time of play.

·       The Warriors' unbeaten streak now stands at nine matches, the best start in program history.
