Volleyball Hosts No. 25 Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino in Crucial Matches This Weekend
TURLOCK, Calif.--- The Stanislaus State volleyball team returns home this weekend for a pair of pivotal California Collegiate Athletic Association matchups, hosting No. 25 Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Oct. 31, and Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Nov. 1. Both matches begin at 5 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Arena, as the Warriors look to extend their win streak and firm up their postseason positioning.
WEEKEND RECAP
The Warriors (10–9, 8–4 CCAA) posted one of their strongest weekends of the season, sweeping both Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State San Marcos on the road. On Friday, Stan State rolled to a 3–0 victory (25–19, 25–16, 25–15) over the Toros behind a balanced attack that hit .305 as a team. Christallynn Tate tallied 13 kills on .385 hitting, while Emily Meyer added 11 kills and eight digs. Shaelyn Pruiett distributed 35 assists and Leah Mendoza anchored the defense with 15 digs. On Saturday at San Marcos the Warriors won 25–16, 25–15, 25–21; Sydney Hoffman made a strong comeback with 15 kills and a .542 hitting rate, Meyer added 12 kills and 10 digs for her second double-double of the year, Stan State hit .318 as a team and out-blocked the Cougars 18–4 as Irene London and Fallon Freeman combined for 14 total blocks.
WARRIORS UPDATE
The Warriors sit at 10–9 overall and 8–4 in CCAA play, in fourth place in the standings. Stan State ranks among the league's top defensive teams, averaging 2.51 blocks per set (third in the CCAA) and holding opponents to a .154 hitting percentage. Tate leads the team with 161 kills (.277) and 49 blocks; Isabella Saucedo follows with 156 kills (.217), 13 aces and 26 blocks. Freeman has 128 kills (.277) and 38 blocks, Pruiett has 320 assists and 152 digs, Mendoza ranks second in the conference with 293 digs (4.13 per set), and London sits second in the CCAA in blocks at 1.26 per set.
SEEING DOUBLE
Seven different Warriors have recorded double-doubles this season, demonstrating team depth. Pruiett leads with five, followed by Saucedo with four and Wilkerson with three. Meyer, James, Olson and Hoffman have also each recorded one.
SCOUTING NO. 25 CAL POLY POMONA (14–4, 12–0 CCAA)
Ranked No. 25 in the latest AVCA Division II Coaches Poll, the Broncos enter the weekend unbeaten in conference play and riding a 10-match winning streak. Cal Poly Pomona averages 14.5 kills per set and hits .246 as a team. Sarah Ybarra leads the conference with 334 kills (5.06 per set, .308), Elle Walker has 230 kills (.245), setter Kacie Caoili averages 650 assists (10.83 per set) and libero Kaden Young leads the back row with 247 digs (3.53 per set). Pomona ranks second in the conference in both hitting percentage and digs per set.
Season Series: Pomona leads the all-time series against Stan State 24–6, including winning the last seven meetings. Stan State's last win over Pomona came in 2019, when the Warriors swept the Broncos in three sets.
SCOUTING CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO (14–5, 9–3 CCAA)
The Coyotes remain one of the conference's most consistent programs and sit third in the CCAA standings. CSUSB holds opponents to a .142 hitting percentage while averaging 2.55 blocks per set. Kacie Pedersen leads with 283 kills (3.99/set, .222), Kisa Sagiao has 162 kills (.293) and 61 blocks, setter McKenna Edwards averages 6.7 assists per set and libero Jayden Chornomud is among league leaders in digs (3.99/set).
Season Series: CSUSB leads the all-time series against Stan State 25–4, but the Warriors have won three of the last four matchups — including victories last season 3–1 in San Bernardino behind Saucedo's 11 kills and Pruiett's 14 assists, and 3–0 in Turlock with Saucedo's seven kills and Pruiett's 14 assists and 11 digs.
NCAA STAT LEADERS
Stanislaus State ranks 14th in the nation in blocks per set (2.51). Individually, Irene London ranks 17th in the nation at 1.26 blocks per set.
CCAA STAT LEADERS
Malia Tanksley ranks 10th in the conference in total blocks and ninth in blocks per set. Leah Mendoza stands second in both total digs and digs per set. Irene London ranks fourth in total blocks and second in blocks per set. Victoria Plumb is eighth in service aces, and Christallynn Tate is eighth in hitting percentage.

WARRIORS TO HOST CCAA VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Stanislaus State will host the 2025 CCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament, Nov. 20–22, at Fitzpatrick Arena. The top six teams in the conference will qualify for the event, with the champion earning the CCAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The Warriors will wrap up the regular season with a Thursday road match at UC Merced on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. on Greg & Cathy Hostetler Court, followed by Senior Night on Saturday, Nov. 8, against Cal State Monterey Bay at 5 p.m. inside Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena. Stanislaus State will honor its six graduating seniors — Irene London, Kryslin James, Teagan Irish, Christallynn Tate, Shaelyn Pruiett and Isabella Saucedo — prior to the match.
