SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.---  Even though the visiting Stan State Warriors out-shot their hosts 13-7, the Warriors played to a 1-1 draw with the SF State Gators this afternoon at Cox Stadium in San Francisco. Angel Herrera scored the match's first goal in the 30^th minute.  Ten minutes later, Alecxander Cuellar connected on his third goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.

FIRST HALF: Just five minutes into the match, Stan State had a chance to take the 1-0 lead when Alecxander Cuellar's shot was stopped by the Gators' Hayden Frost.  Jacob Ramirez's shot attempt to give the Warriors the match's first goal went left of the goal in the sixth minute. Ramirez had another chance eight minutes later for a goal, but it went wide left.  San Francisco State (0-6-4, 0-2-2 CCAA) took the 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Angel Herrera in the 30^th minute.  It looked like the Warriors were going to tie the match at 1-1 when Sammy Villanueva's shot went wide of the goal.  One minute later, Stan State was fouled in the box and Cuellar's penalty kick was stopped by SF State's Frost, but Cuellar connected on the rebound to tie the match at 1-1.  Neither team recorded a shot in the final five minutes of the half to send the match into the half tied at 1-1.

SECOND HALF:  Stan State (4-4-3, 0-2-2 CCAA) had two chances early in the half for the lead, but the Gators' Hayden Frost stopped both Sammy Villanueva's and Elio Corral's attempt in the 48^th minute.  Sf State drove down the pitch when Nathan Garcia's chance to give the hosts the 2-1 lead was stopped by Stan State's Angel Ruiz-Hernandez.  Villanueva's saw his chance for the go-ahead goal go wide right of the goal in the 73^rd minute.  Ruiz-Hernandez made another save in the 83^rd minute stopping Michael Rodriguez's shot on goal attempt.  With two minutes left, Ruiz-Hernandez made a huge save stopping Pablo Salazar's shot on goal attempt as the match ended in a 1-1 draw. 

ADVANTAGE: The Warriors had a nine to five corner kick advantage including recording five of them in the first half.  Stan State had a 13-7 shot attempt advantage, but each team had five shot on goal attempts.  Alecxander Cuellar had four shot attempts including three on goal to lead the Warriors.  Sammy Villanueva had four shot attempts and Elio Corral had two shot attempts including one on goal.  Jacob Ramirez added two shot attempts and Landon Leal Ruiz had one.

ANOTHER DRAW:  Even though Stan State tied with the Gators, the Warriors earned a point with the 1-1 tie.  This was their second tie in their last four matches.  Stan State played to a scoreless draw with Cal State Dominguez Hills on October 4 at home.  This was the Warriors' third draw of the season with the third one coming in a 2-2 draw with Fresno Pacific in their home opener on September 18. 

UP NEXT:  The Warriors will return home this Thursday, October 17 at 4:30 p.m., when they host Cal Poly Humboldt on Student Affairs Night at Warrior Stadium.  After Thursday's match with the Lumberjacks, Stan State will travel to Rohnert Park, Calif., for a 2:00 pm.
