Stan State Tries to Keep Pace With No. 23 San Francisco State

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State hosted No. 23 San Francisco State today for the first of two doubleheaders, falling 5-3 in game one and 11-7 in game two.  
 
GAME 1: San Francsico State (30-16, 17-13 CCAA) were the first on the board after two scoreless innings, earning three runs off four walks and two singles.  
 
The Warriors (13-29, 8-22 CCAA) struck back in the fifth as Shelby Frutoz homered to put up a run for Stan State.
 
The Gators added their fourth run in the sixth with a double, a walk, and a sacrifice fly.
 
Stan State rallied in the sixth, beginning with a one-out walk by Karli DalBianco. Moxie Barton came in to pinch run, and a single by McKenna Beach moves Barton to second. Sarah Warden singled to score Barton and move Beach to second. A walk earned by Shelby Frutoz and then by Sydney Davis gave the Warriors their third run.
 
San Francisco State added a fifth run in the seventh with a single, sacrifice bunt, and a double.
 
FRUTOZ: Shelby Frutoz hit her first home run of the season, going one-for two with a walk. This was also the first home run in her career as a Warrior.
 
GAME 2: The Gators put up two runs in the first inning with four singles and two stolen bases. They added another in the third with a double, single, and a fielder's choice.
 
Stan State tied it up in the third, starting with a lead-off single by Karli DalBianco. McKenna Beach hit a bunt single to put two on. Sarah Warden followed with a bunt single of her own, while a throwing error moved runners to second and third while allowing DalBianco to score. Shelby Frutoz hit a sacrifice fly to score Beach and move Warden to third. A single by Allejandra Perea scored Warden to bring the score to 3-3.
 
San Francisco State took the lead back in the fifth, scoring three runs with three errors, a single, a sacrifice bunt, and a wild pitch. The Gators added three more runs in the sixth off three walks and two singles. They found two more in the seventh using three singles, a fielder's choice and an error.
 
The Warriors attempted a seventh inning rally as Karli DalBianco led off with a single. McKenna Beach hit a home run to score them both. Sarah Warden walked and Moxie Barton pinch ran for her. Shelby Frutoz walked as well, putting two on as Avery Jolley came in to pinch run for Frutoz. Allejandra Perea singled to load the bases and Sasha Martello followed with a single of her own to score Barton and keep the bases loaded. Marissa Cerda came in to pinch run for Martello. Sydney Davis hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Jolley though Cerda was out at second. Their four runs were not enough to catch the Gators.
 
BEACH: McKenna Beach was four-for-six on the day, adding a walk, three runs scored, and two runs batted in. Beach hit her fifth home run of the season, which is her fourth home run in the last six games.
 
DALBIANCO: Karli DalBianco went two-for-four after struggling in the first game offensively. She was able to cross the plate twice to aid the Warrior offence.  
 
UP NEXT: Stan State plays its second doubleheader tomorrow, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Between games there will be an egg hunt for fans, and after the games the Warriors will celebrate their seniors for Senior Day and hold a poster signing.
