Stanislaus State Women’s Basketball Announces Eight New Recruits for the 2025–26 Season

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stanislaus State head women's basketball coach Wayman Strickland is excited to welcome eight new student-athletes to the Warrior Women's Basketball program for the 2025–26 season. This incoming class brings a versatile blend of transfer students and freshmen, adding depth and energy to the team's roster.

The newest members of the Warriors are:
Sara Davis
Lexi Derf
Eryn Gardner
Cami Gibson
Nerissa Hamilton
Krissa Hukill
Kylie Kulina
MilaSarai Tau

"We're excited to welcome this group of skilled and hardworking players to the Warrior family," said Coach Strickland. "They each bring unique strengths to our program and align well with the culture we're continuing to build here at Stan State."

Sara Davis (5-10, Jr, G, Modesto/Gregori HS/Modesto Junior College)
The Modesto, Calif., native is transferring to Stan State from Modesto Junior College, where she played the past two seasons for Coach Rachel Finnegan.  This past season, Davis was a member of the First Team All-League team for the Pirates.  Davis graduated from Joseph A. Gregori HS in 2023, where she was a member of the Three-Time League Championship Team.  She was a two-time member of the CCAL All-League Team including being the Most Valuable Player her senior season. 

Lexi Derf (5-8, Sr, G, Vallejo/Will C. Wood HS/San Francisco State University)
Derf is a senior transfer from San Francisco State University, where she was a member of the Gator women's basketball team during the 2023-24 campaign.  Prior to that, Derf played at San Joaquin Delta College and Solano College.  During the 2019-20 season at Solano, she earned First Team All-Conference honors while averaging 14.1 points per game and shooting 89% from the charity stripe.  She was the team's leading scorer and ranked number one in the state in free throw percentage and number three in the conference in three-point shooting.  She broke the 26-year-old collegiate career record for best free throw percentage while leading Solano JC to a conference title. 
She graduated from Will C. Wood HS in 2019 where she was First Team all-league.  Derf was a three-time starter while averaging 15.1 points per game and being a high honor student.

Eryn Gardner (5-10, Jr, F, Oakland/Salesian Prep/Sonoma State University)
The Sonoma State transfer was a two-year member of the Seawolves' women's basketball team.  She played in 45 games during her career at Sonoma State and started in three games.  She averaged 4.7 rebounds per game while blocking 24 shots and recording 32 steals.  She scored 143 during her career at Sonoma.  During her interscholastic career, Gardner was a member of the Division I State Championship, NCS Open Division Championship, and League Championship Teams.  The 5-10 post player was the team's Most Improved Player and graduated in 2023.

Cami Gibson (6-4, Fr, C, Atwater/Atwater HS)
The 6'4 post player graduated this past Spring from Atwater HS.  She was a member of the basketball team at Atwater, where she was a two-time First Team All-League honoree.  Gibson was the Defensive Player of the year her junior and senior seasons.  The four-time SJSF All-Academic Team honoree was a member of the D2 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship Team and two-time California Central Conference Championship Team.

Nerissa Hamilton (5-6, Fr, G, Sacramento/Grant Union HS)
Hamilton graduated this past Spring from Grant Union HS.  The 5'6 guard was a member of the girls' basketball team all four years at Grant Union.  She was a two-time All-League selection including being named to the First Team.

Karissa Hukill (5-8, Fr, G, Atwater/Atwater HS)
The 5-8 guard helped lead Atwater to four CCC titles and the 2025 Section Title.  The Two-Time League Most Valuable Player earned First Team All-State honors this past season.  She was a two-time All-Sacramento selection and Second Team All-Nor Cal.  Hukill is the all-time leading scorer at Atwater for boys' and girls' basketball.  She ranked tenth in the top 50 Sacramento Athlete of the Year voting.  The three-time Team Captain was All-Merced County.

Kylie Kulina (5-8, Fr, G, Modesto/Beyer HS)
Kulia graduated this past Spring from Beyer HS in Modesto, Calif.  The 5-8 guard was the WAC League's Most Valuable Player this past season.  She also was the League's Most Impactful Player.  The Team's Most Valuable Player helped lead Beyer HS to the play-offs her senior season.

MilaSarai Tau (5-10, Soph, F, Reno, Nev./Bishop Manogue Catholic HS/Western Oregon)
Tau is transferring to Stan State from Western Oregon, where she played in 25 games while shooting 47% from the field.  She scored 137 points and grabbed 97 rebounds during her career as a Wolf. The 5-10 post player graduated from Bishop Manogue HS in 2024.  During her senior year at Bishop Manogue, she averaged 13 points and nine rebounds per game while being named to the Nevada First Team Defensive Player of the Year.
