Chomyn In a Tie for Second Place While Warriors Are Tied for Fifth Heading into Final Round of CCAA’s
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--- Stan State moved into a tie for fifth place with Sonoma State after the second round of the 2025 CCAA Men's Golf Championships in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Warriors shot a 302 (+14) to go with their 303 (+15) to give them a 29-over par 605. Chris Chomyn led the Warriors for the second consecutive round with his two-round score of one-over par 145. The senior golfer is in a tie for second place with Cal State East Bay's Cooper Groshart. They are just two strokes out of first place, which is held by Cal State Monterey Bay's Wilhelm Berg Von Linde (143, -1) heading into the final round of the CCAA Men's Golf Championships at the par-72 The Sandpiper Golf Club.
WARRIORS: Chris Chomyn leads the way for Stan State with his two-round score of 145 (+1), which ties him for second place. He is just two strokes out of first place. Nate Jetton is second on the team with his nine-over par 154, which places him in a three-way tie for 23rd place. Right behind Jetton is Ricky Sullivan with his ten-over par 154, which places him in a tie for 26th place. Jack Peters is in a four-way tie for 29th place with his twelve-over par 156. One stroke behind Peters is Chase Bird with his thirteen-over par 157, which ties him for 33rd place. As a team, the Warriors has shot a 29-over par 605 after the first two rounds. They are tied with Sonoma State for fifth place. Stan State is ten strokes out of fourth place, Cal State San Bernardino (595, +19) and eleven strokes out of third place Chico State (594, +18).

TOP FIVE INDIVIDUALS: Cal State Monterey Bay's Wilhelm Berg Von Linde leads the tournament field with his one-under 143. Sitting in a tie for second place each with a one-over par 145 are Stan State's Chris Chomyn and Cal State East Bay's Cooper Groshart. One stroke behind Chomyn and Groshart is Oscar Blomqvist (Cal State East Bay) and John Kim (Cal State San Bernardino) each with a two-over par 146.
BIRDIES/PARS: Chris Chomyn has recorded 30 pars and birdies in the first 36 holes of the CCAA Championships. Chomyn had twelve and three birdies for the second consecutive record today to give him 24 pars and six birdies for the two rounds. Nate Jetton is second on the Warriors with his 22 pars and four birdies in the two days. Today, Jetton had twelve pars and two birdies. Jack Peters and Ricky Sullivan each have 25 combined pars and birdies. Peters has 24 pars and one birdie while Sullivan has 19 pars and six birdies. Chase Bird has 19 pars and three birdies for Stan State.
FINAL ROUND: Stan State will tee-off tomorrow morning in the Final Round of the CCAA Men's Golf Championships in Santa Barbara, Calif., at The Sandpiper Golf Club. The Warriors will tee-off between 7:30 a.m. and 8:14 a.m. They will be paired with Cal State San Marcos, Sonoma State, and Cal State Dominguez Hills. The awards presentations are set for 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23.
REGIONAL RANKINGS: In the last NCAA Division II West Regional rankings that were released on April 11, seven of the eight CCAA teams were ranked in the top 11 in 1.) Cal State East Bay; 2.) Cal State Monterey Bay; 4.) Chico State; 5.) Sonoma State; 6.) Stan State; 7.) Cal State San Marcos; and 8.) Cal State San Bernardino. The top ten teams in each of the nation's eight regions will receive a berth to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. The winner of the 2025 CCAA Men's Golf Championships will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA's. The official tournament field of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships will be announced on www.ncaa.com this Friday, April 25. The top ten teams from the West Region and the top ten teams from the South Central will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf West/South Central Regional, May 8-10, in Riverside, Calif., at the par-72 Victoria Club.
