Warriors’ Track & Field Student-Athlete Lamont Lane Named Stan State Department of Criminal Justice’s Outstanding Student Award Recipient
TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State track and field student-athlete Lamont Lane has been named the Stanislaus State Criminal Justice Department's Most Outstanding Student Award recipient for the 2024-25 Academic Year. Lane will be honored at a special ceremony in May, recognizing the university's most outstanding students.
"Congratulations to Lamont (Lane) on receiving the Most Outstanding Student Award for the Criminal Justice Department!" said Troy Johnson, Stan State head men's and women's track and field coach. "He's a driven young man who represents our program, this department, and the Stanislaus State community with excellence in everything he does. Well, deserved!"
Lane is a two-year letter-winner for the Warriors, who was the 2024 CCAA Men's Track & field Elite 13 Award recipient, recognizing the student-athlete with the highest grade point average in the conference. Since enrolling at Stan State, he has been named to the Department of Athletics' Honor Roll every semester.
"My learning experience here at stan state was outstanding in the criminal justice department," noted Lamont Lane. "I had wonderful teachers including Prof. Kettering, Prof. Pourtaverdi, Prof. Perry, Prof. Mboka, and the rest of the criminal justice staff who push their students to get us ready for life after college. I plan on going into the field of probation or California highway patrol while still helping the Stan state throws crew when I can."
The senior thrower was named to the Academic All-District Men's Track & Field Team in 2023-24. He has twice named to the D2ADA Academic Achievement Team and the CCAA All-Academic Team. In 2023-24, Lane was named to the CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. The Fresno, Calif., native received All-CCAA honors by placing second in the hammer (171-0) at the 2024 CCAA Track & Field Championships.
This season, he has career marks in the shot put (42-0, 12.80m) and hammer throw (182-11, 55.75m). Heading into this week, Lane is first in the CCAA in the hammer, 16th in the shot put, and 24th in the discus.
