THIS WEEK IN WARRIOR SPORTS
DOCE BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD IN 5K AND WARRIORS CAPTURE SEVEN EVENTS AT KIM DUYST
Ero Doce broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:08.98 which provisionally qualified him for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May. He was one of six Warriors to finish first in their respective events in seven events at the Kim Duyst Invitational. Annie Wild won the 800-meter and 1500-meter run. Kaela Dishion won her heat the 5,000-meter run as did Nate Olsen. Reyna Dismukes captured the long jump and Jacob Diaz won the 800-meter run.
STAN STATE HEADING TO NATIONALS
The Warrior duo of Najwa Chouati and Kaela Dishion are heading to the 2024 NCAA Division II National Indoor Track & Field Championships, March 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Chouati and Dishion will be competing in the 5,00-meter run on Friday, March 8 at 4:15pm Pacific Time at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. Dishion is seeded 11th and Chouati is 16th.
WARRIORS SWEEP CSUSB
Stan State swept a doubleheader Friday in a rain-shortened weekend series at Cal State San Bernardino. The Warriors defeated the Coyotes 13-11 and 6-2 in a doubleheader on Friday at Fiscalini Field in San Bernardino. The final games were cancelled due the inclement weather in Southern California. Stan State (7-7-1, 3-3 CCAA) pounded out 17 hits and scored 13 runs in the opener. Alex Solis led the way for the guests going four-for-five with five runs batted in and a solo home run. Kody Cardoza (2-0) picked up the win. The Warriors won the night cap 6-2 behind a complete game three-hit victory by Tony Jacob (1-2). Chris Catalano was two-for-four with a run scored and five runs batted in including a three-run home run.
STAN STATE SWEEP CHICO STATE
In the beginning of the four-game series with Chico State on Sunday, Stan State (4-13, 3-7 CCAA) swept a doubleheader from the Wildcats 2-1 and 3-2 (eight innings). Sasha Martello (4-4) recorded the win in relief. She had a home run and Mikaela Ferreira had a run scoring double that brought in Jessica Gutierrez with what proved to be the game-winning run in the fifth inning. Martello picked up her second straight win in relief. Marissa Cerda drove home Sarah Warden with the game-winning run on a two-out single in the eighth inning. Mikaela Ferreira was two-for-four with two runs batted in.
MEN'S BASKETBALL VICTORIOUS ON SENIOR NIGHT
Stan State defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 93-85 in its regular season home finale on Senior/City of Turlock Night. John Wade III had his first double-double as a Warrior with 31 points and 11 rebounds. Dontrell Hewlett added 21 points with Jeremiah Jones chipping in 17 points. Isaiah Jones scored 11 points for Stan State (8-20, 5-17 CCAA). Wade was named the CCAA Player of the Week for his performance.
WARRIORS FINISH IN 12TH PLACE AT BATTLE IN THE DESERT
Stan State men's golf finished in 12th place out of 16 teams at the Battle in the Desert at Rams Hills Golf Club in Borrego Springs, Calif. The Warriors shot a three-round score of 901 at the par-72 course. Nate Jetton paced Stan State with a 219 which tied him for 16th place. Chris Chomyn shot a 222 to place him tied for 25th place followed by Jack Peters (224, tied 33rd), Drew Pritchard (tied 70th, 236), and Camdan Indelicato (80th, 243).
WARRIORS FALL IN REGULAR SEASON HOME FINALE
Stan State (15-17, 10-12 CCAA) lost 76-59 to Cal State Monterey Bay in their regular season home finale on Senior/City of Turlock Night. Joia Armstrong led the Warriors with 17 points and seven rebounds. Liliana Marques and Tiana Maxwell each chipped in 10 points for Stan State. Taylor Pilot scored eight points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out seven assists and recorded two steals for the Warriors.
WOMEN'S TENNIS MATCHES POSTPONED
Both Stan State women's tennis matches versus Dominican and at Fresno Pacific were postponed due the weather in the Valley. The Warriors will host Dallas Baptist this Tuesday at 10am before hosting Nevada on Sunday at noon.

The Stan State Warrior student-athlete duo of men's track and field distance runner Ero Doce and softball player Sasha Martello are this week's Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week.
Ero Doce broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run with his time of 14:08.98 at the Kim Duyst Invitational. Doce captured the 5,000-meter run on Saturday and provisionally qualified for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in late May.
Sasha Martello went two-for-five with a run scored and a solo home run.in Stan State's doubleheader sweep of the Wildcats. She pitched 7.2 innings of relief, giving up nine hits, two runs (one earned) while striking out one in the Warriors' 2-0 Sunday.

- Warriors Sweep Chico State for Third Straight CCAA VictoryThe Stanislaus State volleyball team turned in a dominant performance Friday night at Fitzpatrick Arena, sweeping Chico State in straight sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-13) to extend its winning streak to three matches and remain unbeaten in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. Led by Isabella Saucedo's 14 kills and a balanced team effort at the net, the Warriors improved to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in conference action while limiting the Wildcats to just a .082 hitting percentage.
- Stanislaus State Men’s Golf Heads to Western Washington InvitationalThe Stanislaus State Warriors men's golf team will continue its 2025-26 fall campaign next week, teeing off at the Western Washington University Invitational, hosted at Bellingham Golf & Country Club in Bellingham, Wash. The event is slated for September 29–30, featuring 54 holes (36 on day one, 18 on day two) with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. each morning.
- Rodriguez, Figueroa Goals Lift Warriors to 2-1 Win at WestmontStanislaus State leaned on clutch goals from Kellyann Rodriguez and Jocelyn Figueroa — and a dominant 19-7 shot advantage — to earn a 2-1 road victory over Westmont on Thursday afternoon. With the result, the Warriors improved to 3-1-2 on the season. Rodriguez struck first with her opening goal of the year, and after Westmont equalized midway through the second half, Figueroa answered just two minutes later with her first career game-winner — and third career goal — off a cross from Haylee Sousa to push Stan State past their hosts.
