The exhibition will be on display from March 20 -- April 29, 2025, and will consist of several video installations. Gallery hours are 12:00 noon -- 4:00 p.m. Monday -- Friday with a late close Thursday evenings at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free, and parking is available in Parking Lot #2. Gomula-Kruzic describes her work: "In my video works, the dynamic relationship between people, wildlife, and wilderness are explored. This relationship becomes embodied within the screen-film dancers as the universal, nonverbal, and social nature of their movement allows it to connect with the viewer on an emotional level. The complexity and scale of climate change can seem overwhelming; the poetry of dance reaches out to the viewer to invite connection and understanding on an intimate and personal level. It is my hope that these works inspire empathy for biodiverse areas through poetic, powerful conveyance of complex environmentalist ideas. Ultimately, I seek to move viewers beyond the role of spectator to that of participants engaged as protagonists for multispecies justice." As an educator, Jessica Gomula-Kruzic invites questions from others. As an artist, she asks the questions. Her visual style places viewers in the midst of her exploration of societal constraints and the implications of long-environmentalism. Core elements to Gomula-Kruzic’s style include a dynamic, shifting nature, one that feels responsive to its environment and is accompanied by a sometimes whimsical critique of modern American culture, social norms, and ways of being. Her work is colorful, corporeal, and constantly changing, much like the subjects she explores. Image caption: Unheard, Single Channel Video Still, 2025

The Sustainable Garden was established as a learning and applied research laboratory in the field of Sustainable Agriculture, and to demonstrate best practices in Elementary School garden development and use. Over the years, its use and focus have expanded. The Garden now includes providing a critical curriculum-based experiential learning platform for students through several out-of-the classroom and field activities, internships, demonstration of crop production and best management practices. Fruit and vegetables are shared with the campus community, used in some campus dining venues, and sold at the StanFresh Market on campus – run by students once monthly during the spring semester. Join Master Gardener and Stan State alumnus Hector Vera on a walking tour of the Sustainable Garden, where he is the Gardening Specialist leading agriculture students to successful learning opportunities. Throughout the tour, you’ll see lab themed garden beds, fruit tree lab, and traditional garden beds growing a variety of fruit, vegetables, and more. Learn about regenerative agriculture practices, and how our garden serves our campus community. This tour is presented jointly by Stan State Sustainability and the Stan State Agriculture Department. RSVP: forms.office.com… ALLERGEN WARNING: the garden walkways and space contain walnut shells; the garden attracts pollinators including bees Note: this is a working living lab space for student projects, please do not touch anything during the tour. This tour is conducted outdoors, please take appropriate measures for sun exposure and potential heat. Wearing closed-toe shoes, hat, sunscreen, and water is highly recommended.
