Annie Wild Heads to Indoor Nationals as Number One Ranked Miler
TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State's Annie Wild heads into this year's NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships as the number one seeded runner in the mile. Wild will run in the preliminaries this Thursday, March 13 at 1:55 p.m. (PT) at the Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Ind. The finals of the mile will take place this Saturday, March 15 at 12:15 p.m. (PT).
Wild earn the top seeded time with her time of 4:39.92 that she ran on March 2 at the 2025 Last Chance Indoor National Qualifier at Boston University in Boston, Mass. That time broke her own school record that she set earlier this season.
She started the indoor season running a time of 4:46.05 in the mile at the UW Preview/Mile City Preview, January 17-18 in Seattle, Wash. One week later at the Nevada Invitational, Wild ran a 4:54.93 in the mile in Reno, Nev. She improved her time in the mile with her time of 4:39.92 at the 2025 Last Chance Indoor National Qualifier at Boston University in Boston, Mass., on Sunday, March 2.
The sophomore runner also recorded a provisional time of 2:10.34 in the 800-meter run which ended up being the 27th fastest time in the nation this season. Along with teammates, Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva, Mila Real, and Crystal Hernandez, they had a provisional time of 11:49.49 in the Distance Medley Relay. That time was the 23rd fastest time in the nation.
The Ripon, Calif., native will look to become the 24th Warrior to earn All-American honors and the first one in the mile. Najwa Chouati earned All-American honors at the 2022-23 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 3,000-meter run. Chouati ran a 9:23.25 to finish seventh in the 3,000-meter run in Virginia Beach, Va.
