TURLOCK, Calif.---Coming off a gritty 1-0 home win over Cal State LA, the Stanislaus State women's soccer team hits the road for a pair of CCAA matchups this weekend, visiting Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m., and then facing top-ranked Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m.

Update on the Warriors
The Warriors (5-2-2, 1-1-0 CCAA) are unbeaten in their last three road contests and continue to rely on a sturdy defense anchored by goalkeeper Zara Mujica, who owns a 0.78 goals-against average and five shutouts through nine matches. Offensively, Haylee Sousa and Olivia Maragos share the team lead with two goals apiece, while Kellyann Rodriguez and Aliah Avila have combined for five assists as the team averages just over one goal per game. Stan State has outshot opponents 118–86 this season and has posted five clean sheets, including three 1-0 victories. The Warriors rank among the CCAA's toughest defensive sides, conceding only seven goals in nine matches.

Recap of Last Weekend
The Warriors opened conference play with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Cal State East Bay on Friday before rebounding with a 1-0 win over Cal State LA on Sunday. Against East Bay, Shauna Johnston scored in the 70th minute on assists from Abby Winslow and Olivia Maragos, but the Pioneers had built a two-goal lead earlier in the second half. Two days later, the Warriors bounced back as Olivia Maragos netted the lone goal in the 28th minute off a pass from Haylee Sousa. Goalkeeper Zara Mujica made seven saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season.

Haylee Sousa is tied for fourth in the CCAA in assists (2) and tied for ninth in both goals (2), game-winning goals (1), and points (6). Olivia Maragos is also tied for ninth in goals (2) and game-winning goals (1). Aliah Avila ranks tied for first in the conference with three assists, while Kellyann Rodriguez is tied for fourth with two. Grace Fabionar and Jocelyn Figueroa are tied for ninth in game-winning goals with one each.
Goalkeeper Zara Mujica continues to shine, ranking tied for second in the CCAA with five shutouts, second in saves (35), tied for fourth in save percentage (.833), and eighth in goals-against average (0.78). Nationally, Mujica ranks 13th in NCAA Division II in shutouts (5).

Scouting Cal State San Bernardino
The Coyotes (4-3-2, 2-0-0 CCAA) enter on a three-match win streak after back-to-back road victories at San Francisco State (3-0) and Cal State Monterey Bay (5-1). Their attack has been sparked by Angelyn Peña, who leads CSUSB with four goals, and Sakiah Williams with three. Goalkeeper Ryann Muñoz sports a 0.77 GAA and .829 save percentage, helping San Bernardino allow less than one goal per match. The Coyotes are scoring at a 1.78-goals-per-game clip, nearly doubling opponents' output. They've also been efficient in set-piece situations, converting both of their penalty kick opportunities this season.

Series vs. CSUSB: The Coyotes hold a 13-10-3 edge in the all-time series. The Warriors won 2-0 in Turlock last season, with Aliah Avila and Kellyann Rodriguez scoring the goals. The teams tied 2-2 in San Bernardino in 2023. Stanislaus State's last win in San Bernardino came in 2012, a 3-1 victory.

Scouting No. 1 Cal Poly Pomona
The nation's top-ranked Broncos (9-0-0, 2-0-0 CCAA) are rolling, boasting one of the most prolific offenses in Division II with 23 goals through nine games (2.56 per match). Forward Vanessa Cruz headlines the lineup with eight goals and three successful penalty kicks, while Marisa Salazar adds four goals and two assists. CPP has outshot opponents 161–59 and allowed only four goals all season behind goalkeeper Jenna Tetrault (0.44 GAA, .846 save pct, four shutouts). The Broncos have been dominant at both ends of the field, outscoring their last five opponents 11-2 and holding teams to fewer than seven shots per game.

Series vs. Cal Poly Pomona: The Broncos lead the series 15-11-2. Pomona won 5-1 in last year's CCAA semifinals in Arcata, while the Warriors claimed a 2-0 regular-season win in Turlock behind goals from Aliah Avila and Katie Smith. Stanislaus State fell 3-1 in Pomona in 2023, with its last road win against the Broncos coming in 2018, a 1-0 result.

Moving On Up
Aliah Avila continues to climb the Stanislaus State career record books. She is tied for fifth all-time with seven game-winning goals and has recorded 13 career assists — just three shy of cracking the program's top 10 in that category.
