Women’s Indoor Track & Field to Begin 2024-25 Season in Reno This Weekend
TURLOCK, CALIF.--- Stan State women's indoor track and field team, under the direction of head coach Troy Johnson, will begin their 2024-25 season this Friday-Saturday, December 6-7 at the Silver State Invitational at the Reno Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada. The Warriors will be sending ten student-athletes to compete in twelve events. The invitational will begin at 10:00 a.m. both mornings for the Warriors.
FRIDAY'S EVENTS: The first events that the Warriors will compete in Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. will be the Weight Throw and the Long Jump. Alexis Nino and Sienna Hawkins will compete in the weight throw while Rionna Wallace and Richiya Washington will participate in the long jump. Stan State will have five runners competing in the mile at noon in Bela Moreno, Milca Osorio, Noheli Ron, Dede Salcedo, and Yahaira Zuniga. At 12:50 p.m., Mila Real will be running in the 400-meter dash. Moreno, Osorio, Ron, Salcedo, and Zuniga will be running in the 3000-meter run at 2:50 p.m. Stan State's final event on Friday will be the 200-meter dash that Wallace
and Washington will be running in at 3:40 p.m.
SATURDAY'S EVENTS: Stan State will begin its morning at 10:00 a.m. with four Warriors competing in three events. Richiya Washington will be participating in the long jump while Sienna Hawkins and Alexis Nino will be throwing in the shot put. Running in the 60-meter hurdles will be Mila Real who will also be running in the 400-meter dash at 11:35 a.m. and the 60-meter hurdles at 12:20 p.m. Rionna Wallace will compete in the final event for the Warriors in the 60-meter dash at 12:45 p.m.
SILVER STATE INVITATIONAL: Among the teams that will be competing in this year's Silver State Invitational are Stan State, Nevada, Fresno State, Boise State, Northwest Nazarene, Western Washington, Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal Poly Pomona, Alaska Anchorage, Cal State San Marcos, and Academy of Art. LAST YEAR: Stan State had two student-athletes compete in the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, in Najwa Chouati and Kaela Dishion. Chouati placed 17th with a time of 16:53.95 while Dishion ran a time of 17:16.92 to finish in 20th place. The Warriors had four USTFCCCA All-West Region honorees in Caitlyn Bell (weight), Najwa Chouati (5000-meter run), Kaela Dishion (3000-meter and 5000-meter run), and Annie Wild (mile).
UP NEXT: After the Silver State Invitational, Stan State will return to competition January 17-18 in Seattle, Wash., when the Warriors compete in the UW Preview on January 17 and the Mile City Preview on January 18. Both previews will take place at the Dempsey Indoor Complex on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash.
REST OF THE INDOOR SEASON: Stan State will compete in three more invitationals after the Mile City Preview in hoping to qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, March 13-15, 2025. The Warriors will return to the Reno Sparks Convention Center January 24 to compete in the Nevada invite. Two weeks later, Stan State will be back in Reno, Nev., to compete in the Wolf Pack Classic February 7-8. Their last regular season indoor meet will be February 14-15 in Seattle, Wash., at the Husky Classic. This year's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be at the Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Ind.

- Warrior Bench Keys 90-79 CCAA Opening Win Over CSUMBStan State's bench outscored the visiting Cal State Monterey Bay Otters 30-19 to key the Warriors' 90-79 victory in both team's CCAA opener at The Fitzpatrick Arena. Jeremiah Jones had a game high 28 points to go with his four assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Jason Cibull had a season high 19 points off the bench. Daniel Ameyaw had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds with Jason Zimmer chipping in 11 points.
