No. 1 Warriors Visit No. 16 Toros in First-Place CCAA Showdown Friday
TURLOCK, Calif.--- The No. 1 Stanislaus State men's soccer team, riding a 14-match unbeaten streak, travels south for a top-tier CCAA showdown at No. 16 Cal State Dominguez Hills this Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. inside Toro Stadium in Carson. The Warriors (13-0-1, 7-0-1 CCAA) sit atop the conference standings with 22 points, while the Toros (9-2-3, 6-0-1 CCAA) are close behind in second place with 19 points. With both teams among the nation's best, Friday's match could decide the regular-season championship and CCAA postseason seeding.
Weekend Recap
The Warriors continued their historic season with two more commanding results, defeating Chico State 2-0 on "Break the Record Night" before earning a 4-1 victory at Cal State Monterey Bay. Gerardo Flores scored three goals across the weekend, while Christian Brenes, Alexis Cervantes, Emmanuel Duran, and Adrian Yepez also found the net. Stan State outshot its opponents 38-21 with a 6-1 combined scoring margin and a 12-6 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez collected seven saves and allowed only one goal in 180 minutes, improving to 13-0-1 with a 0.57 goals-against average and .864 save percentage. The Warriors have now outscored opponents 33-8 this season, posting eight shutouts behind the steady defensive core of Ruiz-Hernandez, Ian Reis, Federico Barbieri, Brenes, David Lozano, and Ryan Rosas.

Adrian Yepez stands 20th in total assists and 29th in assists per game.

Within the CCAA, Gerardo Flores leads the conference in both goals and game-winning goals and is tied for sixth in assists. Emmanuel Duran is tied for fifth in goals and game-winners, while Sebastian Carbajal is tied for sixth in goals and fifth in game-winners. Samuel Villanueva continues to lead the CCAA in assists, with Adrian Yepez tied for third. Alexis Cervantes is tied for fifth in game-winning goals. Goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez tops the conference in goals-against average (0.57), save percentage (.864), shutouts (8), and total saves.

In the Stan State record book, several Warriors continue to climb the charts. In single-season marks, Gerardo Flores is tied for fifth in both points (23) and goals (9), while Adrian Yepez is tied for fourth in assists (6) and Samuel Villanueva stands second with nine assists. Goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez is tied for second in single-season shutouts (7).
In career categories, Villanueva ranks second all-time with 13 assists. Ruiz-Hernandez is tied for third in career shutouts (13), sixth in saves (107), third in wins (19), and fourth in minutes played (2,772).

The Toros (9-2-3 overall, 6-0-1 CCAA) enter the matchup on a seven-match unbeaten streak after a 3-1 win at Cal State San Marcos. Before hosting the Warriors, CSUDH will play a non-conference home match this evening against Fresno Pacific. The Toros average 1.50 goals per match while allowing just 0.79, with six shutouts on the season. Diego Barahona (four goals, two on penalty kicks) leads the offense, with David Politron (three goals, three assists) and Lucas Galarza (three goals) providing additional threats. Goalkeeper Keegan O'Brien owns a 0.88 goals-against average, a .697 save percentage, and four shutouts. CSUDH has outshot opponents 148-111 and holds a 75-36 edge in corner kicks.
Series History: Cal State Dominguez Hills leads the all-time series 16-4-4. The Toros are unbeaten in the last nine meetings (5-0-4) between the programs. CCAA Championship Picture
With last weekend's wins, Stanislaus State has officially clinched a berth in the CCAA Soccer Championship Tournament for the first time since 2015. The Warriors lead the CCAA with 22 points, followed by Cal State Dominguez Hills in second with 19. The top two teams receive first-round byes in the CCAA Championship Tournament, which begins Nov. 9 and concludes Nov. 16 at Cal State Monterey Bay's Cardinale Stadium.
