VOLLEYBALL CONTINUES HOMESTAND / WOMEN'S SOCCER RETURNS HOME SEPT. 28
Stan State's volleyball team will continue its four-match homestand this weekend with two CCAA matches, Sept. 26 and 27. The Warriors will host Chico State this Friday, Sept. 26, on Latinx Heritage Night. They will conclude their homestand against Cal Poly Humboldt the next evening (Sat., Sept. 27) on Alumni Night. Both matches will take place at 5:00 p.m. After traveling to Westmont this Thursday afternoon, Stan State's women's soccer team will host UC Merced in its final non-conference match, the Annual Cowbell Match, Sunday, Sept. 28, at 6:00 p.m.

#2 MEN'S SOCCER OFF TO BEST START SINCE 2015
The No. 2 Stan State men's soccer team continued its hot start this past week with two shutouts to improve to 6-0. This is the first time since 2015 that the Warriors have started a season 6-0. They defeated No. 19 Menlo Thursday evening, 1-0, at home and Dominican, 1-0, in San Rafael Saturday afternoon. Emmanuel Duran leads the team with five goals, followed by Gerardo Flores with four, three of which are game-winning goals. Samuel Villanueva has recorded a team-leading seven assists. Angel Ruiz-Hernandez has posted a 0.34 goals-against average with an .895 save percentage and 17 saves. The Warriors are one of six teams that have not lost or tied a match this season and the only team in NCAA Division II with six victories.

VOLLEYBALL STARTS CCAA SEASON 2-0
The Warrior women's volleyball team went 2-0 to begin its CCAA season, improving to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in CCAA play. They started with a four-set victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday evening. Stan State followed that with a sweep of Cal State San Marcos on Saturday. Isabella Saucedo paced the Warriors with 20 kills, followed by Emily Meyer's 16 and Fallon Freeman's 14. Shaelyn Pruiett had 47 assists, and Leah Mendoza recorded a team-high 25 digs. Stan State tallied 16 service aces, with four coming from Reagan Wilkerson and three each from Irene London and Victoria Plumb. London also added 11 total blocks for the Warriors.

WOMEN'S SOCCER STARTS ROAD TRIP WITH HARD-FOUGHT 2-2 DRAW
Stan State women's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw at Biola University to begin the Warriors' two-match road trip. Jocelin Roa and Olivia Maragos each scored their first goals of the season, with Kellyann Rodriguez and Olivia Kamm recording the assists. This was Maragos' first collegiate goal. Zara Mujica had seven saves in goal for Stan State, who is now 2-1-2. Aliah Avila leads the team with three assists, while Haylee Sousa has scored a team-high two goals. Mujica has posted a 0.80 goals-against average with an .840 save percentage and three shutouts this season.

MEN'S GOLF FINISHES EIGHTH AT WILDCAT CLASSIC TO BEGIN FALL SEASON
Riley Kirk shot a three-round score of seven-under-par 209 to lead the Warriors in their first invitational of the season. Kirk finished tied for tenth in his first tournament as a Warrior. As a team, Stan State finished in eighth place with a four-under-par 860 in the 54-hole Wildcat Classic. Also contributing to the team score were Ricky Sullivan (215), Carson Diaz (216), and Owen Bascom and Chase Bird, who each shot a 222.

STAN STATE CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS BACK ON THE COURSE SATURDAY IN RIVERSIDE
Both the 16th-ranked Stan State women's cross country team and the men's cross country team will return to the course this Saturday, Sept. 27, at the UC Riverside Invite at the AgOps Course in Riverside, Calif. The Warrior women captured the Kim Duyst Twilight Sept. 13, led by Annie Wild's third-place finish, which earned her the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor. The women defeated four NCAA Division I teams to secure their first-place finish. Stan State's men finished in seventh place at the Kim Duyst, paced by Jackson Oliveira's tenth-place finish. The Warrior men topped Sacramento State, Nevada, and the University of San Francisco.

WOMEN'S TENNIS TO BEGIN FALL SEASON AT ITA WEST REGIONALS IN LA MIRADA
Stan State's women's tennis team will begin its fall season this Friday-Saturday, Sept. 26-27, at the ITA West Regionals at the Biola Tennis Center on the campus of Biola University in La Mirada, Calif. This will be the first of three competitions for the Warriors this fall. They will also compete at the Dominican Hidden Duals, Oct. 24-25, and the Menlo College Hidden Duals, Nov. 7-8. Stan State returns Abbigail Mulick, Parker Orlando, Maiah White, and Emma Yu from last year's team.

THIS WEEK'S DONNA PIERCE WARRIORS OF THE WEEK: SHAELYN PRUIETT AND ANGEL RUIZ-HERNANDEZ
This year, the Stan State Warrior Student-Athletes of the Week award has been named the Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week in memory of Pierce, who passed away on Sunday, September 7. A constant presence in Warrior Athletics, Donna was the University's first softball coach in 1976. She also volunteered for more than 30 years as a clock keeper and official scorekeeper at men's and women's basketball games. She was inducted into the Stan State Warrior Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.

This week's Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week are women's volleyball setter Shaelyn Pruiett and men's soccer goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez.

Shaelynn PruiettSenior setter Shaelyn Pruiett turned in steady performances as the team secured back-to-back wins. In the Warriors' four-set victory over CSUDH on September 18, she contributed two kills with no errors while hitting .250. She also added 20 assists, 12 digs, and a block assist. Two days later, in a sweep of Cal State San Marcos, Pruiett tallied another two kills without an error while hitting .333, dished out 27 assists, and picked up seven digs. She also served one ace. The Gunter, Texas, native finished the week with four kills while hitting .286, 47 total assists, one ace, 19 digs, and a block assist.

1 Angel Ruiz-HernandezRuiz-Hernandez posted back-to-back shutouts this past week for the No. 2 Stan State Warriors, finishing with a 0.00 goals-against average and a perfect 1.000 save percentage. The senior goalkeeper opened the week with two saves, including a clutch stop with seven minutes remaining to secure a 1-0 win over No. 19 Menlo on Thursday evening.  The Keyes, Calif., native followed that performance with a season-high four saves in the Warriors' 1-0 road victory at Dominican on Saturday. Ruiz-Hernandez now owns three solo shutouts and has combined on another, carrying a 0.34 goals-against average through six matches this season.
