Stan State Men’s Golf Opens 2025-26 Season at Wildcat Classic
TURLOCK, Calif. — The Stanislaus State men's golf team, led by head coach Brandon Christianson, opens its 2025-26 season at the Wildcat Classic this Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 15-16. The 54-hole tournament will be held at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club (Par 72) in Marysville, Calif., with 8:00 a.m. tee times scheduled each day.
A Look Back: 2024-25 Season Recap:
Last season, Stan State finished sixth at the 2025 CCAA Golf Championships at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Warriors shot a combined 38-over-par 902 (303-302-297). Chris Chomyn led the way with a one-over-par 217, tying for fourth place and earning All-Tournament honors.
At the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regionals in Riverside, Calif., the Warriors posted a one-under 863 over 54 holes at Victoria Golf Club, finishing 19th. Jack Peters was the team's top performer with a three-under-par 214, tying for 38th.
Postseason Honors
- Chris Chomyn and Jack Peters were named to the All-CCAA Men's Golf Team.
- Chomyn also earned PING All-West Region honors and was selected to the CCAA Championships All-Tournament Team.
Returners
The Warriors return four players from last year's squad:
- Chase Bird: Posted two top-20 finishes in 2024-25, including an 11th-place showing at the Fujikura Invitational. Averaged 75.2 over 33 rounds.
- Ricky Sullivan: Averaged 73.8 over 30 rounds with a season-best ninth-place finish at the Southwest/HPU Sharks Shootout.
- Ethan Gonsalves particpated in the Hanny Stanislaus Invite
- Bradley Olson participated in the Hanny Stanislaus Invite
Departing the program are key contributors Chris Chomyn, Nate Jetton (both two-time All-CCAA and PING All-Americans), and Jack Peters (2024 All-CCAA).
Newcomers
Coach Christianson adds four new faces to the 2025-26 roster:
- Owen Bascome (Fr., North Bend, Ore./North Bend HS)
- Carson Diaz (Jr., Porter Beach, Calif./College of the Canyons)
- Riley Kirk (So., Kelso, Wash./Lower Columbia College)
- Jesse Verhel (Fr., Sonora, Calif./Summerville HS)
About the Wildcat Classic
Stan State kicks off the fall portion of its schedule at the 14-team Wildcat Classic, hosted by Chico State. The field includes six CCAA programs: Stanislaus State, Chico State, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and Cal State Monterey Bay.

The Warriors controlled key moments of the match, outshooting the Vulcans and earning seven corner kicks while not allowing a single one. Goalkeeper Zara Mujica anchored a disciplined defensive effort with her second shutout as a Warrior. With the result, Stanislaus State moves to 1–1–1 on the season, while Hawaii Hilo remains unbeaten at 1–0–2.
