Stan State Cross Country Hosting Kim Duyst Twilight to Open Season
TURLOCK, Calif. — The Stanislaus State men's and women's cross country teams will open their 2025 seasons this Saturday, September 13, by hosting the annual Kim Duyst Twilight at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, Calif. This year's meet will feature 25 collegiate teams and 67 high school teams.
The event begins at 5:15 p.m. with the freshman/sophomore girls' 2K and concludes around 10:00 p.m. with the girls' invitational 5K. Collegiate races will run under the lights, with the men's 8K at approximately 8:30 p.m., followed by the women's 6K at 9:00 p.m.
Warrior Women
Stan State returns three All-CCAA performers from last year's women's team, which finished second at the CCAA Championships in Fresno: Annie Wild, who placed third; Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva, who finished fifth; and Crystal Hernandez. The Warriors advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships by placing fifth at the West Regionals. Sanchez-Silva and Wild earned All-West Region honors with top-25 finishes, placing ninth and 13th, respectively. It marked the second time in three years that Stan State competed at nationals, where they placed 24th overall.
The Warrior women are ranked 17th nationally in the USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II preseason poll. They are ranked first in the West Region and picked to finish second in the CCAA preseason coaches' poll.
Running for Stan State this weekend will be Roseli Diaz, Vanessa Diaz, Nina Furtado, Crystal Hernandez, Stevie Holguin, Valorie Jimenez, Makenzie Kordic, Bela Moreno, Ariana Puccini, Noheli Ron, Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva, Bianca Scott, Izzy Soto, Tessa Vasquez, Aubrey Webb, and Annie Wild.
Last Year's Kim Duyst — Women
At last year's Kim Duyst Twilight, the Stan State women finished in second place behind Chico State. Chico State's Delia Molina and Iresh Molina won the 6K race, each with a time of 20:38.1. Annie Wild led the Warriors with a third-place time of 21:11.6, followed by Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva in fifth (21:18) and Crystal Hernandez in tenth (22:02).
Warrior Men
Stan State returns three 2024 All-CCAA runners from the men's team that finished third at the CCAA Championships in Fresno. Tanner Gerhart placed tenth to earn CCAA Newcomer of the Year honors. Jackson Oliveira was named CCAA Freshman of the Year after placing 13th, followed by Mason Oliveira in 15th place. The Warriors placed sixth at the NCAA Division II West Regionals in Monmouth, Oregon. Graduating senior Abe Alsaidi earned All-Region honors by finishing 25th.
The Warrior men are ranked sixth in the USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II West Region preseason poll and are picked to finish third in the CCAA preseason coaches' poll. Running for the men this Saturday will be Diego Cisneros, Quentin Clarke, Austin Hein, Jonathan Hupman, Patricio Kearney, Jackson Oliveira, Mason Oliveira, Osvaldo Segoviano, and Evan Silva.
Last Year's Kim Duyst — Men
At the 2024 Kim Duyst Twilight, the Warrior men also finished second behind Chico State. Jackson Oliveira led Stan State with an 11th-place finish in the 8K (24:31.1), followed closely by graduating senior Dominic Robles in 12th (24:37.1).
Among Collegiate Teams
In addition to host Stan State, other collegiate programs competing this weekend include Cal, Nevada, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Chico State, Saint Mary's, Fresno State, UC Davis, Cal State Northridge, Cal State East Bay, and UC Santa Cruz.
